Stéphane Julien
Stéphane Julien (born April 7, 1974) is a French-Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and current assistant coach for the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League (AHL). Playing career He last played with EHC München in the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) during the 2011–12 season. Coaching career Julien served as assistant coach for the Sherbrooke Phoenix of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) from 2012 to 2016, before being named head coach midway through the 2015–16 season. During his tenure as head coach he led Sherbrooke to a 262–161–24–17 record, with three division titles and one league championship. He also won the Ron Lapointe Trophy, as QMJHL Coach of the Year, twice in 2020 and 2023. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a minor professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams across the United States and Canada. Competitively, it is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The league serves as a farm system to the AHL and National Hockey League (NHL). The ECHL and the AHL are the only minor leagues recognized by the collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and the National Hockey League Players' Association (NHLPA), meaning any player signed to an entry-level NHL contract and designated for assignment must report to a club in either the ECHL or the AHL. 2019–20 QMJHL Season
The 2019–20 QMJHL season was the 51st season of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). The regular season began on September 19, 2019, and was scheduled to end on March 21, 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Canada, the regular season was suspended on March 12, 2020 and cancelled five days later. The post-season was scheduled to begin following the regular season, in which sixteen teams would compete for the President's Cup and be crowned champions of the QMJHL. Sherbrooke ( , ) is a city in southern Quebec, Canada. It is at the confluence of the Saint-François and Magog rivers in the heart of the Estrie administrative region. 1991–92 QMJHL Season
The 1991–92 QMJHL season was the 23rd season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. The league inaugurates the Molson Cup, awarded to the overall "Rookie of the Year," in addition to the existing Michel Bergeron Trophy and Raymond Lagacé Trophy. The top three scorers in the league, are all linemates from the Saint-Hyacinthe Laser. Centreman Charles Poulin won the QMJHL's Most Valuable Player and CHL Player of the Year. Trois-Rivières Draveurs
The Trois-Rivières Draveurs ("Raftmen") were a Canadian junior ice hockey team playing in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). They played home games at the Colisée de Trois-Rivières, in Trois-Rivières, Quebec. The team was originally known as the Trois-Rivières Ducs ("Dukes") and were a founding member of the QMJHL in 1969. They were renamed the Draveurs in 1973. History The Draveurs finished first place in the QMJHL in 1977–78 with 101 points, and again in 1978–79 with 122 points. Penalty (ice Hockey)
A penalty in ice hockey is a punishment for an infringement of the rules. Most penalties are enforced by sending the offending player to a penalty box for a set number of minutes. During the penalty the player may not participate in play. The offending team may not replace the player on the ice (although there are some exceptions, such as fighting), leaving them short handed, short-handed as opposed to full strength. In ice hockey, an assist is attributed to up to two players of the scoring team who shot, passed or deflected the Puck (sports)#In ice hockey, puck towards the scoring teammate, or touched it in any other way which enabled the Goal (ice hockey), goal, meaning that they were "assisting" in the goal. There can be a maximum of two assists per goal. In ice hockey, a goal is scored when the puck entirely crosses the goal line between the two goal posts and below the goal crossbar. A goal awards one point to the team attacking the goal scored upon, regardless of which team the player who actually deflected the puck into the goal belongs to (see also own goal). Typically, a player on the team attempting to score shoots the puck with their stick towards the goal net opening, and a player on the opposing team called a goaltender tries to block the shot to prevent a goal from being scored against their team.
