Strength athletics in Norway refers to the participation of Norwegian competitors and holding national strongman competitions. History The sport's roots have a long history going back many centuries before modern strongman competitions in the 1970s. However, Norway did not come onto the international scene in modern times until the mid-1990s. Norway has had mixed success on the international stage, with Svend Karlsen winning the 2001 World's Strongest Man title, Norway's only WSM title. In recent years, Norway has had several top international competitors in WSM, including Arild Haugen, Richard Skog, Odd Haugen and Espen Aune. Strongman is a competitive strength sport which tests athletes' physical strength and endurance through a variety of heavy lifts and events. Strongman competitions are known for their intensity, pushing athletes to their physical and mental limits. Magnus Samuelsson
Magnus Samuelsson (born December 21, 1969), is a Sweden, Swedish actor, former Strongman and the 1998 World's Strongest Man. Known as the 'king of the stones', he made it to the World's Strongest Man podium 5 times and the finals 10 times. The son of a former Swedish arm wrestling champion, he has also been ranked among the best arm wrestlers in Europe during early to mid 90's with a second place in 1993 as his best performance. Krzysztof Radzikowski
Krzysztof Edward Radzikowski (born August 18, 1981) is a professional strongman competitor from Głowno, Poland. He has competed in 112 International strongman competitions (2nd highest in history) and has won 24 of them, making him the sixth most decorated strongman in history. Strongman career Radzikowski started his strongman career in 2005 when he entered the Poland's Strongest Man competition. In 2008 he qualified to the Europe's Strongest Man competition and in the following year, won second place behind Mariusz Pudzianowski. His career took to the next level when he started to complete prolifically at Strongman Super Series, World Strongman Federation and Strongman Champions League. Terry Hollands (born 6 June 1979) is a British bodybuilder and the winner of the 2bros Pro Luke Sandoe Classic Beginners Class 2019 bodybuilding championships. Hollands is also a retired strongman competitor and a past winner of England's Strongest Man, Britain's Strongest Man and UK's Strongest Man competitions. David Nyström (Strongman)
David Nyström (born February 21, 1980) is a former Swedish professional ice hockey player who played in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and Norwegian GET-ligaen. Nyström was drafted in the eighth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers, but he never played professionally in North America. World's Strongest Viking
World's Strongest Viking was an annual international Strongman competition organized by Strongman Champions League and held for eight consecutive years from 2014 to 2021 with participation of top strongman athletes in the world. It was held under perilous weather conditions in winter, testing the athletes to their limits. The roots of the competition goes back to the Nordic Strongman Championships which was continued until 2013 with participation of athletes from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Denmark. In 2014, Giants Live upscaled it to global level, renaming the competition to 'World's Strongest Viking'. In 2015, Strongman Champions League took over. Giants Live is a professional strongman tour which was originated in the United Kingdom. It hosts several prominent competitions each year, including national competitions such as Britain's Strongest Man, international competitions such as Europe's Strongest Man and single-lift competitions such as The World Deadlift Championships and The World Log Lift Championships. Since its beginning in 2009, each Giants Live show has served as a qualifier for the next year's World's Strongest Man, with the podium finishers from each show earning a spot in the competition. The International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA or IFSA Strongman) was an international governing body for strongman competition. IFSA operated from 1995 to 2007 and was based in Glasgow, Scotland.
