Stratyn (Ukrainian: Стратин, yi, סטרעטין ''Stretin'') is a village and rural municipality in western Ukraine. It lies in Ivano-Frankivsk Raion of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast of Ukraine, in the centre of the historic area of Halychyna (Galicia / Galizien / Galicja / Galizia), formerly in Austrian empire (1772–1918), Poland (1365–1772, 1918–1939) and USSR (1939–1941, 1944–1991). The current population is 561 inhabitants. The old name of the village was Striatyn. Stratyn belongs to Rohatyn urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Geography Stratyn used to be a town, and it had two parts which were usually referred as Startyn selo / Stratyn the village (Stratyn-wies in Polish) and Stratyn misto / Stratyn the city (Stratyn-miasto). Lopushnia
Lopushnia, Lopushnya, sometimes Lopushna (Ukrainian: Лопушня, Polish: Lopuszna, Lopusznia) is a village of 282 people in Ivano-Frankivsk Raion of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast in the western part of Ukraine. It is the first village on the highway when entering Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast from the side of Berezhany and Ternopil Oblast. Lopushnia belongs to Rohatyn urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The river Narayivka flows through Lopushnia. In terms of administration the village is subordinated to the village council in Verkhnia Lypytsia, a much larger neighbouring village 2 km away. There are daily bus connections between Lopushnia and Rohatyn, and between Lopushnia and Berezhany. The village is easily accessible by road and public transport. Rohatyn Raion
Rohatyn Raion ( uk, Рога́тинський райо́н, translit=Rohatynśkyj rajon) was a raion (district) of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast (region). The town of Rohatyn was the administrative center of the raion. The raion was abolished on 18 July 2020 as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, which reduced the number of raions of Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast Oblast to six. Rabbi Avraham Brandwein (died February 20, 2013), ''Admor'' of Stretin, was an Israeli Kabbalah scholar. Family and early life Brandwein's family includes many chassidic masters, including the Maggid of Mezritsch, Elimelech of Lizhensk and Levy Yitschak of Berditshev, and he was directly descended from the first ''Admor'' of Stretin. Brandwein was born in Israel, the seventh generation in his family to live there. His family originally settled in Tsfat, the city of Kabbalists. His father, Rav Yehudah Tzvi, was the previous ''Admor'' and a scholar of Kabbalah. Brandwein served in the Israel Defense Forces in artillery and was among the soldiers that crossed the Suez Canal into Egypt during the Yom Kippur war. Rohatyn Urban Hromada
Rohatyn ( uk, Рогатин, pl, Rohatyn) is a city located on the Hnyla Lypa River in Ivano-Frankivsk Raion, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, in western Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Rohatyn urban hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. Population: . Prior to World War II the town was located in Poland. Name It was first mentioned in historical documents in 1184 as a part of the Kingdom of Galicia–Volhynia. Its name seems to be derived from Ruthenia, the name of the region of the location. However, the town emblem has a horn of a deer which gives the first part of the Slavic name of Rohatyn or Rogatyn – "Rog" ("Horn"). The second part "Tyn" can be connected with a word which means " Stacket". Together these two words give us "Horn Stacket".
