Margareta-Caliopi Pogonat (6 March 1933 – 11 May 2014) was a Romanian theatre and film actress. Pogonat studied at the Institute of Theatre and Cinematographic Art in Bucharest, graduating in 1959. Ștefan Ciubotărașu (; 21 March 1910 – 27 August 1970) was a Romanian actor. He appeared in more than thirty films from 1954 to 1970. He was born into a poor farming family in Lipovăț, Vaslui County, a village in the Moldavia region of Romania. At the age of 10–11 he was sent by his family to Bucharest to become an apprentice shoemaker. In the fall of 1924 he decided to go back and study at the in Vaslui; he became interested in art, culture, and poetry and began to write. He then studied from 1929 to 1932 at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in Iași, after which he moved to Bârlad, where he wanted to establish himself as a theater actor. In 1934, with help from poet Mihai Codreanu, who taught at his old university and offered himself as a mentor, Ciubotărașu secured a job at the Conservatory theater in Iași. He debuted with the role of an assassin in Macbeth, and then played the role of Count Alexis Czerny in the play Ninotchka by Melchior Lengyel. Starting ... Petru Dumitriu
Petru Dumitriu (; 8 May 1924 – 6 April 2002) was a Romanian-born novelist who wrote both in Romanian and in French. Biography Dumitriu was born in BaziaÈ™, in the Banat region of Romania. His father was a Romanian army officer and his mother was Hungarian and spoke to her husband and son mostly in French, so that French was Petru Dumitriu's second language from childhood. After school in Romania, Dumitriu studied philosophy at the University of Munich with a Humboldt scholarship, but his studies were interrupted in 1944 when Romania changed sides in the Second World War. After becoming a member of the Romanian Writers' Union committee in 1950, he became editor-in-chief at ViaÈ›a Românească in 1953. In 1960, Dumitriu fled from Romania to West Berlin, moved to Frankfurt am Main and later to Bad Godesberg, Germany, afinally settling in Metz, France. He did not return to Romania until 1996.
