Stor-Brändön
Stor-Brändön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Luleå archipelago. Location Stor-Brändön is one of the larger islands of the Luleå archipelago, with nine permanent residents as of 2013. It is about southeast of the city of Luleå. The island lies in shallow water. It has a well-protected harbor, and some visitor accommodation. Small boats can beach at locations in the Brändö sound or at Storsanden on the south coast. In winter the island can be accessed via an ice road, the longest in Sweden at . It runs from Hindersöstallarna on the mainland to the islands of Hindersön, Stor-Brändön, and Långön. Normally the road is open from January to April. Vehicle weight restrictions apply. Description The village of Storbrändön in the north of the island is protected under a program for agricultural landscapes. The Luleå archipelago ( or ''Lule skärgård'') is a group of Swedish islands in the north part of the Bay of Bothnia. They lie offshore from the city of Luleå and the mouth of the Lule River. Långön
Långön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Luleå archipelago. Description Långön is a relatively large island in the Luleå archipelago, with an area of . It lies to the north of Stor-Brändön and west of Mjoön. It has a fine sandy beach on the north shore, but the beach is exposed to the weather. The land has gently rolling hills, the highest being Storberget on the north side at . The island is mostly tree-covered, with some scattered bogs of different sizes and one shallow lake. Hindersön
Hindersön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Luleå archipelago. Location Hindersön is one of the largest of the islands in the Luleå Archipelago. Vargön, Piteå
Vargön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Piteå archipelago. Location Vargön lies in the inner archipelago of Piteå. Since 1977 it has been designated a nature reserve. Camping is allowed, and visitors may fish and hunt, pick berries and mushrooms, make fires in designated areas and camp. An old fisherman's cottage may be used for overnight stays. In the winter, when the ice is at least thick, marked snowmobile trails are set from Svartnäsudden (Bredänget) out to Mellerstön, about , then to Vargön, about . Baggen
Baggen is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Piteå archipelago. Location Baggen is about from Renöhamn. The island can be reached by boat from Piteå in 10 to 25 minutes depending on weather conditions. There are rental cabins. The west side of the island has steep rocky cliffs. The name may have Sami origin, from the word "Pakte", meaning "crag". Baggen has an open air chapel, which is often used for marriages. Rånön
Rånön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Kalix archipelago. Location Rånön is the largest island in the Kalix archipelago. It is uninhabited, but is popular with visitors in the summer. Rånö village is a former farming and fishing village at the north end of the island. The old meeting house can still be used, and the farm houses are now used as summer cottages. There is a large marina, and a coastal campground with cabins for rent. There are 11 farm houses on the island. Most have been renovated and are used as summer homes. Old farm equipment and tanks can still be seen in the forest. Bay Of Bothnia
The Bothnian Bay or Bay of Bothnia (; ) is the northernmost part of the Gulf of Bothnia, which is in turn the northern part of the Baltic Sea. The land holding the bay is Post-glacial rebound, still rising after the weight of ice-age glaciers has been removed, and within 2,000 years the bay will be a large freshwater lake since its link to the south Kvarken is mostly less than deep.
