Långön
Långön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Luleå archipelago. Description Långön is a relatively large island in the Luleå archipelago, with an area of . It lies to the north of Stor-Brändön and west of Mjoön. It has a fine sandy beach on the north shore, but the beach is exposed to the weather. The land has gently rolling hills, the highest being Storberget on the north side at . The island is mostly tree-covered, with some scattered bogs of different sizes and one shallow lake. As of 2008 there were five permanent residents on the island. There were 18 houses, mostly summer cabins. Access Boats can land on the beach. There a private harbor that can be used by visitors to the residents of the island. In winter the island can be accessed via an ice road, the longest in Sweden at . Luleå Archipelago
The Luleå archipelago ( sv, Luleå Skärgård or ''Lule Skärgård'') is a group of Swedish islands in the north part of the Bay of Bothnia. They lie offshore from the city of Luleå and the mouth of the Lule River. A few of the islands have small permanent populations, but most are used only for recreation in the summer months. They are icebound during the winter. Location The north of the bay of Bothnia contains a large archipelago area. The islands in the Swedish sector make up the Norrbotten archipelago. They are divided into the Piteå, Luleå, Kalix and Haparanda archipelagos. The Luleå archipelago lies in the Luleå Municipality, part of the Norrbotten county. The port of Luleå is one of the largest in Sweden in terms of tonnage, shipping iron ore and steel. Stor-Brändön
Stor-Brändön is an island in the northwest of the Swedish sector of the Bay of Bothnia, in the Luleå archipelago. Location Stor-Brändön is one of the larger islands of the Luleå archipelago, with nine permanent residents as of 2013. It is about southeast from the city of Luleå. The island lies in shallow water. It has a well-protected harbor, and some visitor accommodation. Small boats can beach at locations in the Brändö sound or at Storsanden on the south coast. In winter the island can be accessed via an ice road, the longest in Sweden at . It runs from Hindersöstallarna on the mainland to the islands of Hindersön, Stor-Brändön, and Långön. Normally the road is open from January to April. Vehicle weight restrictions apply. Description The village of Storbrändön in the north of the island is protected under a program for agricultural landscapes.
