Stokke (village)
Stokke is a village in Sandefjord Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. The village is located about to the northeast of the city of Sandefjord and about to the southwest of the city of Tønsberg. The village of Melsomvik and the Tønsbergfjorden lie about to the east of Stokke. The village has a population (2022) of 4,221 and a population density of . Stokke was the administrative centre of the old Stokke Municipality which existed from 1838 until its dissolution on 1 January 2017. The European route E18 highway passes to the northwest of the village. The Vestfoldbanen railway line passes through the village, stopping at the Stokke Station. Stokke Church is located in the village. The village is the site of the Bokemoa elementary school and Stokke secondary school. The Gjennestad upper secondary school lies just a short distance north of the village. Tønsbergfjorden
Tønsbergfjorden is a fjord in Vestfold county, Norway. The long fjord runs between the mainland ( Sandefjord Municipality) and the islands of Tjøme and Nøtterøy (Færder Municipality). The fjord has a number of islands located within it including Veierland, Hui, Langø, Natholmen, and the Stauper islands. The fjord starts out with a width of about and as it heads northwards, it narrows considerably, at one point the fjord is only across. The city of Tønsberg is located at the northern end of the fjord. There is a small canal that runs through Tønsberg and it connects the northern end of the fjord to the Ytre Oslofjord to the east. The southern end of the fjord is where the mouth is, emptying into the Ytre Oslofjord. The mouth lies between Verdens Ende on the east side and the Østerøya peninsula in the west. Stokke Church
Stokke Church ( no, Stokke kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Sandefjord Municipality in Vestfold county, Norway. It is located in the village of Stokke. It is the church for the Stokke parish which is part of the Sandefjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Tunsberg. The brown brick church was built in a long church design in 1886 using plans drawn up by the architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. The church seats about 550 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1329, but the church was not built that year. The first church in Stokke was a Romanesque stone church with a rectangular nave and a smaller rectangular chancel that was likely built during the 12th century. The Vestfold Line ( no, Vestfoldbanen) is a railway line which runs between Drammen and Eidanger in Norway. The line connects to the Drammen Line at the northern terminus at Drammen Station and continues as the Bratsberg Line past Skien Station. The line is exclusively used for passenger trains, which are provided by the Norwegian State Railways, which connect northwards to Oslo and south-westwards to Grenland. Stokke
Stokke is a town in Sandefjord municipality in Vestfold County, Norway. It lies in-between Sandefjord and Tønsberg, two of Vestfold's largest cities. It was a municipality from 1838 to 2016. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Stokke, while minor villages were Vear, Melsomvik, Storevar, and Valberg. On 1 January 2017, the municipality, along with Andebu, became a part of Sandefjord municipality. The village of Vear was transferred from Stokke to neighboring Tønsberg on the same day. The town of Stokke was home to 3,391 inhabitants as of 2016. The decision to merge into Sandefjord was part of a nationwide municipal reform by the Solberg Cabinet. 77.8 percent of Stokke residents voted to merge into Sandefjord during the September 2015 elections.
