Alexander Stoddart
Alexander "Sandy" Stoddart (born 1959) is a Scotland, Scottish sculptor, who, since 2008, has been the Queen's Sculptor in Ordinary for Scotland, Sculptor in Ordinary in Scotland and is now the King's Sculptor in Ordinary. He works primarily on figurative sculpture in clay within the Neoclassicism, neoclassical tradition. Stoddart is best known for his civic monuments, including bronze statues of David Hume and Adam Smith, philosophers during the Scottish Enlightenment, on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh, and others of James Clerk Maxwell, William Henry Playfair and John Witherspoon. Stoddart says of his own motivation, "My great ambition is to do sculpture for Scotland", primarily through large civic monuments to figures from the country's past. Morgan Lloyd Stoddart (born 23 September 1984) is a former Wales international rugby union player. His usual position was fullback or wing. In January 2013, Stoddart retired from rugby due to injury. History In 1967, General Publishing purchased the Musson imprint, based in Canada, from British publisher Hodder & Stoughton. William Stoddart
William Smith Stoddart (25 June 1925 – 9 November 2023) was a Scottish-Canadian physician, author and spiritual traveller, who wrote several books on the Perennial Philosophy and on comparative religion. Biography William Smith Stoddart was born in Carstairs, Scotland on 25 June 1925. He graduated in medicine from Glasgow University. Stoddart has been called a "master of synthesis" and was one of the important Perennialist writers. For many years he was assistant editor of the British journal Studies in Comparative Religion. He has translated into English, from the original French or German, several books of the perennialists Frithjof Schuon (1907–1998) and Titus Burckhardt (1908–1984). Stoddart lived most of his life in London, England, before moving, in 1982, to Windsor, Ontario, Canada. He died in Windsor on 9 November 2023, at the age of 98. Thomas Stoddart (28 November 1953 – 17 November 2021) was a British photojournalist. He covered the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Lebanese Civil War, the siege of Sarajevo and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Life and career Stoddart was born in Morpeth, Northumberland in November 1953. He began his career covering local news for the Berwick Advertiser, Northumberland and John Pick's Yorkshire Press agency, York. He continued his work as a photojournalist based in London and from there covered national and international stories including the fall of the Berlin Wall, the Lebanese Civil War, the siege of Sarajevo and the 2003 invasion of Iraq. Suzanne Wolff ( Stoddart; born 6 December 1982) is a Scottish former professional racing driver and current managing director of F1 Academy. Wolff started in karting, before graduating to Formula Renault and Formula Three, then moving to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) to compete for Mercedes-Benz. Peter Laurence Bowring Stoddart (24 June 1934 – 19 April 2019) was an English cricketer. Stoddart was a right-handed batsman. He was born in Regent's Park, London and was educated at Sandroyd School in Wiltshire and then Eton College, where he captained the college cricket team. Stoddart made his debut for Buckinghamshire in the 1955 Minor Counties Championship against Norfolk. Pickett played Minor counties cricket for Buckinghamshire from 1955 to 1967, which included 77 Minor Counties Championship matches.
