Stevie Jackson
Stephen Thomas Jackson (born 16 January 1969) is a Scottish musician and songwriter. He plays lead guitar and sings in the Glasgow-based indie band Belle and Sebastian. Career Jackson's early musical influences include Madness, ABBA, OMD, Depeche Mode and ABC, with his first album purchase being The Police's ''Reggatta de Blanc'' (1979). Prior to joining Belle & Sebastian, he was a member of the Moondials, a band that released a single on Electric Honey, a label that would later issue Belle & Sebastian's first album, '' Tigermilk''. The Moondials experience was a pleasant one for Jackson, and it took a great deal of work for nominal Belle & Sebastian frontman Stuart Murdoch to convince him to join his group. At the time, Murdoch was playing the open mic circuit in Glasgow as a solo act, and it was at one of these performances, at The Halt Bar, that Jackson first saw Murdoch play. The Police
The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. Within a few months of their first gig, the line-up settled as Sting (lead vocals, bass guitar, primary songwriter), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums, percussion), and this remained unchanged for the rest of the band's history. The Police became globally popular from the late 1970s to the mid-1980s. Emerging in the British new wave scene, they played a style of rock influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz. Belle & Sebastian
Belle and Sebastian are a Scottish indie pop band formed in Glasgow in 1996. Led by Stuart Murdoch, the band has released twelve studio albums. They are often compared with acts such as the Smiths and Nick Drake. The band took their name from the 1965 television series '' Belle and Sebastian''. History Formation, early years and ''Tigermilk'' (1994–1996) In 1994, Stuart Murdoch and Stuart David both enrolled at Stow College's Beatbox programme for unemployed musicians in Glasgow. Together, with music professor Alan Rankine (formerly of the Associates), they recorded some demos, which in 1996 were picked up by the college's Music Business course that produces and releases one single each year on the college's label, Electric Honey. Roy Moller
Roy Moller is a Scottish singer, songwriter and poet. He was born in Edinburgh in 1963; his parents were from Toronto in Canada, and he was adopted soon after birth. His early musical influences included Elvis Presley, Joy Division, The Fall, Ivor Cutler and David Bowie. He attended Trinity Academy, then moved to Glasgow where he studied English at the University of Strathclyde. While there, he won the Keith Wright Poetry Competition. Moller played in bands including Meth O.D. and The Wow Kafe. His first solo work was 2003's "Maximum Smile". He has collaborated with Stevie Jackson from Belle and Sebastian in a band called the Store Keys. He played with Davy Henderson in the band Jesus, Baby! When Marc Riley interviewed him on BBC Radio in 2011, he called Moller "Scotland's best-kept secret". In 2008, Moller had a son with wife Emma, named Peter. In 2013, Moller moved to Dunbar. "Rock Your Baby" is the debut single by American singer George McCrae. Written and produced by Harry Wayne Casey and Richard Finch of KC and the Sunshine Band, "Rock Your Baby" became an early landmark recording of disco. It was the only international hit for McCrae. The song spent two weeks at number one on the US ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in July 1974, and three weeks at number one on the UK Singles Chart that same month. The song also topped the ''Billboard'' R&B chart. The single has sold over 11 million copies, making it one of fewer than forty singles to have sold 10 million physical copies worldwide. George McCrae
George Warren McCrae Jr. (born October 19, 1944) is an American soul and disco singer who is most famous for his 1974 hit " Rock Your Baby". Biography and career McCrae was the second of nine children, born in West Palm Beach, Florida. He formed his own singing group, the Jivin' Jets, before joining the United States Navy in 1963. He married Gwen McCrae (née Mosley) in 1963. Four years later, he re-formed the group, with his wife Gwen joining the lineup, but soon afterwards they decided to work as a duo, recording for Henry Stone's Alston record label. Gwen then won a solo contract, with George acting as her manager as well as doing some singing on sessions and in clubs in Palm Beach. "Jonathan David" is a song by Scottish indie pop band Belle and Sebastian. The song gets its name from the bible, biblical duo of Jonathan and David, while B-side "The Loneliness of a Middle Distance Runner" is a reference to Alan Sillitoe's short story "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner." The front cover features band members Mick Cooke (musician), Mick Cooke and Bobby Kildea with Gill Dodds. All three tracks from the single were later collected on the ''Push Barman to Open Old Wounds'' compilation. Stuart Murdoch (musician)
Stuart Lee Murdoch (born 25 August 1968) is a Scottish musician, writer and filmmaker, and the lead singer and songwriter for the indie pop band Belle and Sebastian. Early life Murdoch attended Belmont Academy in Ayr from 1980-1985. Murdoch's parents made him take piano lessons during his childhood, and he claims not to have enjoyed them at the time but now "appreciates this decision vastly". Apart from early musical activities at secondary school (at age 12 he formed a band with fellow pupils, in which he played piano), Murdoch first became publicly involved in music as a radio DJ for Subcity Radio at the University of Glasgow. While at university at the end of the 1980s, he became ill with myalgic encephalomyelitis, or chronic fatigue syndrome, and was unable to work for seven years. ''Tigermilk'' is the 1996 debut studio album from Scottish pop group Belle and Sebastian. Originally given a limited release (1,000 copies) by Electric Honey, the album was subsequently re-released in 1999 by Jeepster Records. The album is named after an instrumental that did not end up on the album — it was later performed on Belle and Sebastian's early tours. All of the songs on the album were written by Stuart Murdoch between 1993 and 1996, and originally performed solo on the Glasgow open mic circuit. Though he performs on the album, trumpet player Mick Cooke was not then an official member of the band.
