Steve Johnson (basketball)
Clarence Stephen Johnson (born November 3, 1957) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played the power forward and center positions. Collegiate career Johnson played collegiately at Oregon State University under Naismith Hall of Fame coach Ralph Miller. He was the star player on the 1980–81 team (known as the Orange Express) which reached as high as no. 1 in the national rankings, before being upset in the second round of the 1981 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament by eighth-seeded Kansas State. That season, Johnson made 235 of 315 field goals for a field goal percentage of .746, a single-season mark which was an NCAA men's basketball record until March 16, 2017, when Devontae Cacok of UNCW finished with a field goal percentage of .800 of 230 shots. The All-Pac-12 men's basketball team is an annual Pac-12 Conference men's basketball, Pac-12 Conference honor bestowed on the best players in the conference following every college basketball season. Pac-12 coaches select a 10-player first team and a five-player second team. There were two five-man teams from 1956 though 1979, followed by one 10-man first team from 1980 through 2008. For one year in 2008, there were three five-man teams selected. During the final week of the regular season, Pac-12 coaches nominate up to three players from their team to be placed on the ballot for consideration. Coaches submit their votes by the Sunday after the season ends and cannot vote for their own players. Previously, a player needed to be selected on 50 percent of the ballots to be on the team. Devontae Calvin Cacok ( ; born October 8, 1996) is an American professional basketball player who last played for Virtus Bologna of the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) and the EuroLeague. He played college basketball for the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, where in the 2017–18 season he led the nation in rebounding. Early life Cacok was born in Chicago, Illinois to a Haitian-American father Harry Cacok and Rose Lewis, and grew up in Riverdale, Georgia, playing football as a youth, mainly on the offensive line. He first began playing basketball in eight grade after he fractured his wrist, ending his football season. Cacok admits being terrible at first, but joined his high school varsity team after a seven-inch growth spurt as a sophomore. The Kansas State Wildcats men's basketball team represents Kansas State University in college basketball competition. The program is classified in the NCAA Division I, and is a member of the Big 12 Conference. The head coach is Jerome Tang. The program began competition in 1902. 1981 NCAA Division I Basketball Tournament
The 1981 NCAA Division I basketball tournament involved 48 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. It began on March 12, 1981, and ended with the championship game on March 30 in Philadelphia. A total of 48 games were played, including a national third-place game (the last in the NCAA tournament). It was also the last tournament to be televised on NBC, before CBS took over the following year. Ralph H. Miller (March 9, 1919 – May 15, 2001) was an American college basketball coach, a head coach for 38 years at three universities: Wichita (now known as Wichita State), Iowa, and Oregon State. With an overall record of , his teams had losing records only three times. Prior to his final season, he was enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame on Miller played college football and basketball at the University of Kansas.
