Star 744
The Star 744 is a Polish 4x4 truck produced in 1992-2000 by FSC Star in Starachowice, Poland. History The successor to the Star 244 truck also intended to partially replace the Star 266 - mainly for the needs of the Polish Armed Forces and energy companies. The Star 744 was produced in three versions, differing in cabins. The basic version had a cabin for two people, the version for energy companies - an additional cabin for 6 people, and the version for the "Geofizyka" company - a large cabin and luggage area. Special equipment was also placed on the chassis of the Star 744 - it was sometimes equipped with an electrically powered winch with a pulling force of 45 kN. The T359E engine had 109 Horsepower, hp at 2400 Revolutions per minute, rpm from a capacity of 4.56 L and a maximum torque of 400 Nm at 1400 rpm. FSC Star
Fabryka Samochodów Ciężarowych "Star" (FSC Star), also known simply as Star, was a Polish truck manufacturer. The name comes from the City of Starachowice, where the factory is located. Their first vehicle was the ''Star 20'' in 1948. The most popular product was the '' Star 266''. The 266 model offered very good quality and powerful engines for a low price. It was sold in various countries for many years (not only in the Eastern Bloc; for example it was used by the Yemen Army). For many years, FSC Star was a state-owned company. The Star 244 is a Polish 2 axle straight truck produced by FSC Star in Starachowice from 1975 to 2000. History Experimental prototype At the turn of 1969–1970, a trial batch of 10 units of the Star 200 model was made, and with it an experimental model of the 244 model. The vehicle in military colors, with a cargo box and tarpaulin was developed and tested in cooperation with the Military Institute of Armored and Automotive Technology in Sulejówek (similarly to the Star 266). Built on the basis of the Star 200 components, the design was to be a response to the needs of the economy, especially agriculture, forestry, construction, energy, as well as uniformed services, i.e. the army and the fire brigade. Star 944
The Star 944 is a Polish 4x4 truck designed for transport of cargo and personnel. Created by Starachowice-based Star Trucks company. Successor to the Star 744, also intended to partially replace the Star 266. The premiere of the new vehicle took place in 1999. It was powered by diesel engines with an output of 150 HP (maximum torque 580 Nm), and later 180 HP (650 Nm). History The vehicle was approved for the Polish Armed Forces as part of the new concept of the road transport structure of December 1998. It belonged to the category of medium-duty tactical and high-mobility trucks, similar to its predecessor Star 266, which, however, was replaced by heavier vehicles a dozen or so years later. Starachowice
Starachowice is a city in southeastern Poland (historic Lesser Poland), with 49,513 inhabitants (31.12.2017). It is the capital of Starachowice County in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. It is situated upon the River Kamienna, a tributary of the Vistula River, among hills and forests. History In the location of present-day Starachowice, a forge existed, which in the 16th century belonged to the Starzechowski family (most probably, the name of the town comes from this family). Star 266
The Star 266 is a Polish 6x6 truck designed for transport of cargo and personnel. Created by Starachowice-based FSC Star, it was the basic transport truck used by the Polish Army. It was also available to the civilian market. A successor to the highly successful Star 660 series of trucks, the Star 266 shared many components with earlier models, including Star 200 and Star 244 multi-purpose medium-capacity trucks. The truck could transport up to 3500 kilograms (7716 lbs) cross-country and up to 5000 kg (11023 lbs) on paved roads. It could also tow trailers of up to 4000 kg (8818 lbs). As a truck designed primarily with military service in mind, it can ford rivers and mud of between 120 and 180 centimetres of depth.
