Sporting Tabaco (1926–1955)
Club Sporting Tabaco was a Peruvian association football, football club located in the district of Rímac District, Rímac, Lima. The club was founded on November 16, 1926. History Sporting Tabaco was founded on November 16, 1926, made up mainly of workers and employees of the Estanco de Tabaco, a state entity that monopolized the tobacco trade in Peru. Founded in the Rímac neighborhood, its first president was Mr. Cristóbal Jiménez, general manager of the tobacconist. The club was registered in the Ligas Provinciales de Lima y Callao (1926–1975)#Segunda División, Segunda División Provincial de Lima (third category) in which it participated in 1927. The 1930 Primera División was the 15th season of top-flight Peruvian football. A total of 12 teams competed in this league, with Atlético Chalaco winning its first league title. The 1929 Primera División was the 14th season of top-flight Peruvian football. A total of 13 teams competed in this league, with Federación Universitaria winning its first league title. Alianza Lima was disqualified after 7 games; their record was deleted but they were admitted for 1930. Changes from 1928 Structural changes The 1928 season was reduced from 19 to 13 teams and was played in a single league table instead of two. Thus, the championship group stage was removed. Two teams were relegated instead of eight. Promotion and Relegation Santa Catalina, Lawn Tennis, Asociación Alianza, Alberto Secada, Jorge Washington, Alianza Callao, José Alaya and Unión were relegated by placing last in their respective groups. Peruvian División Intermedia (1926–1940)
The División Intermedia, the second division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1926 until 1934, and the third division of Peruvian football (soccer) in 1935 until 1940. The tournament was played on a home-and-away round-robin basis. On August 23, 1922, the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) was founded and since 1926 tournaments began to be played under its organization. As the second category in the tournament system, the División Intermedia was found, which granted promotions to the champion ( and sometimes to the runner-up) to the Peruvian Primera División. Only the 1928 and 1931 editions did not give direct promotion but rather the classification to a promotion league. Campeonato De Apertura (Perú)
The Campeonato de Apertura, also called the Torneo Apertura, was a Peruvian football competition created and then organized by the Asociación No Amateur (ANA). It was played from 1945 to 1961 and then discontinued until 1969. The tournament was played before the start of the Peruvian Primera División and had no influence on the tournament. These matches are neither considered official nor friendly since they were closer to an exhibition format than to a real competition for points.
