Speakers Of The Oklahoma House Of Representatives
The Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives is the presiding officer of the lower house of the Oklahoma Legislature, the Oklahoma House of Representatives. The speaker exercises administrative and procedural functions, but remains a representative of his legislative district. The current Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives is Charles McCall, Republican from Atoka, Oklahoma. The position was created in 1907 by the Oklahoma Constitution. Members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives vote for the speaker in the first legislative session following an election. Although there is no constitutional requirement to elect a speaker from the majority party, in practice, the speaker has never been a member of the minority party. Kyle Hilbert
Kyle Hilbert (born March 23, 1994) is a Republican member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives and the current Speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. He has represented 29th district of the Oklahoma House of Representatives since 2016. Education and family Hilbert attended Depew High School, where he served as president of the Depew Future Farmers of America chapter. In 2011, he won the national championship for public speaking at the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Hilbert earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agribusiness from Oklahoma State University. While at OSU, Kyle served as president of the Student Government Association and was named a 2016 OSU Outstanding Senior. He currently lives in Bristow with his wife and their two daughters. The president ''pro tempore'' of the Oklahoma Senate is the second-highest-ranking official of the Oklahoma Senate and the highest-ranking state senator. The Oklahoma Constitution designates the Lieutenant Governor of Oklahoma as the highest-ranking official, serving ex officio as President of the Senate, even though the lieutenant governor only votes in the case of a tie. During the lieutenant governor's absence, the president pro tempore presides over sessions. George Nigh
George Patterson Nigh (born June 9, 1927) is an American politician and civic leader from the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Nigh served as the 17th and the 22nd governor of Oklahoma and as the eighth and tenth lieutenant governor of Oklahoma. He was the first Oklahoma governor to be re-elected and the first to win all 77 counties in the state. Additionally, short term vacancies in the governor's office twice resulted in Nigh assuming gubernatorial duties while serving as lieutenant governor.
