"Something Nice" is a song by English band Robert Lloyd and the New Four Seasons. Written by Lloyd and produced by Mark Tibenham, the song was originally released as a single in 1988 on the In Tape label and peaked at number 5 in the UK Independent Singles Chart. The song was also included on Lloyd's debut solo album '' Me and My Mouth'', released by Virgin in 1990. Background Lloyd embarked on a solo career after the Nightingales disbanded in 1986 and formed a new backing band, the New Four Seasons. "Something Nice" was first performed during a BBC Radio 1 session for John Peel on 10 March 1987. Following its broadcast, Lloyd was approached by the independent label In Tape with the offer of recording and releasing the track as a single. Robert Lloyd (Nightingales)
Robert Lloyd (born 5 June 1959) is the lead singer with The Nightingales and formerly with The Prefects. When The Nightingales split in 1986, Lloyd embarked on a solo career, initially signing to In-Tape before signing to Virgin Records in 1989 and releasing the album ''Me and My Mouth'' (1990). The album featured Steve Nieve and Pete Thomas (drummer), Pete Thomas (of The Attractions), Andy Scott (of The Sweet, Sweet) and Craig Gannon (formerly of The Smiths among others), but for the tour to promote the album, Lloyd had to recruit a new band which included former Nightingales guitarist Peter 'The Tank' Byrchmore (who also played on the album).Larkin, Colin (ed.) Nightingales (a.k.a. The Nightingales) are a British post-punk/alternative rock band, formed in 1979 in Birmingham, England, by four members of Birmingham's punk group The Prefects. Cara Tivey
Cara Tivey is an English pianist/keyboardist and vocalist who has mainly worked as a side musician. She is best known for her collaborations with Billy Bragg. Tivey is also the cousin of Stephen and Nick Duffy of the Lilac Time. Biography Cara Tivey joined Birmingham band Au Pairs as keyboard player in 1983, followed shortly after by the Fine Young Cannibals. In 1985, Tivey got her first recording break with Everything But the Girl on '' Baby the Stars Shine Bright''. In 1988, she started working with Billy Bragg on the '' Workers Playtime'' album, singing vocals on "Must I Paint You a Picture". The British Newspaper Archive website provides access to searchable digitized archives of British and Irish newspapers. It was launched in November 2011. History The British Library's Newspapers section was based in Colindale in north London until 2013, and is now divided between the St Pancras and Boston Spa sites. The Style Council
The Style Council were an English pop band formed in Woking in 1982 by Paul Weller, the former lead vocalist, principal songwriter and guitarist with the rock band the Jam, and keyboardist Mick Talbot, previously a member of Dexys Midnight Runners, the Bureau and the Merton Parkas. Weller started the project to escape the restrictions of the Jam, and to explore a more arty, European, jazzier direction, which encompassed pop, hip hop, and soul. The permanent line-up grew to include drummer Steve White and Weller's then-girlfriend, vocalist Dee C. Lee. The Stranglers are an English rock music, rock band formed in 1974. As a member of the Stock Aitken Waterman production and songwriting team, he co-wrote and co-produced many UK hit singles.
