Softlab
Softlab GmbH was a software development and information technology consulting company who developed and deployed a software application called Maestro I, which was the first integrated development environment in the history of computing. Founded in Munich, Germany, in 1971, Softlab became a part of the BMW Group in 1992. Maestro I
Maestro I was an early integrated development environment for software. developed by Softlab Munich in the 1970s and 1980s. The system was originally called "Programm-Entwicklungs-Terminal-System" ("program development terminal system") abbreviated as PET; it was renamed after Commodore International introduced a home computer called the Commodore PET in 1977. At one time there were 22,000 installations worldwide. The first USA installations were at Boeing in 1979 with eight Maestro I systems and Bank of America with 24 system and 576 developer terminals. Christiane Floyd
Christiane Floyd (née Riedl; born 26 April 1943) is an Austrian computer scientist. In 1978, she became the first female professor of computer science in Germany, and was a pioneer of evolutionary participatory software design—a precursor to open-source software development. Born Christiane Riedl, she began her career studying mathematics at the University of Vienna, where she completed her PhD in 1966.
