Snackmasters (Australian TV Series)
''Snackmasters'' was an Australian cooking competition television show based on the BAFTA-nominated British series of Snackmasters, the same name. Broadcast by the Nine Network, it was hosted by Scott Pickett and Poh Ling Yeow, with Yvie Jones as a co-presenter. In September 2021, it was announced that Nine had commissioned a local version of the series set to air in the fourth quarter of 2021. The series was originally intended to premiere on 22 November 2021, however the series ultimately premiered on 29 November 2021. A second season started airing from 4 December 2022. In May 2023, Nine confirmed the show would not be returning for a third season. Format Each episode sees two professional chefs compete to recreate a brand-name snack or fast food item. The chefs present their replica snack to a panel of judges composed of workers involved with the manufacture of the snack, and the chef who is decided to have most faithfully recreated the snack wins the competition. Peters Ice Cream is an Australian ice cream brand, now a subsidiary of European food firm Froneri. It was originally developed by an expatriate American, Frederick (Fred) Augustus Bolles Peters in 1907, using his mother's recipe. Streets is an Australian ice cream brand bought by the British multinational company Unilever in 1960. Some products are made in China and shipped to Australia and New Zealand. It is part of Unilever's ice cream brand Heartbrand. The company is in a long-term contract with dairy company Dairy Farmers. Cheezels are a brand of Australian snack food currently produced by Snack Brands Australia. Made from corn and rice, they are a crisp puffy ring with a strong, savoury cheddar cheese flavour and aroma. They are similar in texture to cheese puffs, American Cheetos, or Canadian Cheezies. In some countries they are distributed by Laura Matte (which since 2016 has been owned by Universal Robina Corporation, and previously by The Real McCoy Snackfood Company). Iced VoVo
An Iced VoVo is a wheat flour biscuit topped with 2 strips of pink fondant flanking a strip of raspberry jam and sprinkled with coconut. It is a product of the Australian-based biscuit company Arnott's (now American-owned). Previously known as Iced Vo-Vo biscuits, the brand was first registered in 1906. It’s one of very few biscuits that has remained exactly the same size as they were. The recipe and size hasn’t changed in over 100 years. On 24 November 2007, Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd made a light-hearted mention of Iced VoVos in his election victory speech, jokingly urging his team to have a strong cup of tea with an Iced VoVo before getting to work. Tim Tam
Tim Tam is a brand of chocolate biscuit introduced by the Australian biscuit company Arnott's Biscuits Holdings in 1964. It consists of two malted biscuits separated by a light hard chocolate cream filling and coated in a thin layer of textured chocolate. History The biscuit was created by Ian Norris. During 1958 he took a world trip looking for inspiration for new products. While traveling in Britain, he found the Penguin biscuit and decided to try to "make a better one".
