Smedstorp
Smedstorp is a Urban areas in Sweden, locality situated in Tomelilla Municipality, Skåne County, Sweden. Located 15 km west of the town of Simrishamn, Smedstorp is a small village with 363 inhabitants in 2010. On 1 January 2002 the current parish of Smedstorp was formed from the amalgamation of six small parishes Kverrestad, Smedstorp, Östra Ingelstad, Bollerup Church, Bollerup, Tosterup and Övraby. So, the parish of Smedstorp extends beyond the village itself to the surrounding farms and hamlets. Smedstorp is also a postal district covering and even larger area. History In the 18th Century, only a handful of houses existed in the village of Smedstorp. They were inhabited mostly by craftsmen and farm workers, who owned no land of their own. Smedstorp Castle
Smedstorp Castle () is a castle in Tomelilla Municipality, Scania, in southern Sweden. History Smedstorp is one of the older estates in Scania. It was for a long time the seat of the noble Swedish family Bing, between the years 1313–1589. Anders Bing, who was a Danish "riksråd" (a member of the privy council) was the last in the family to own the estate. King James I was a guest of Anders Bing at Smedstorp, and dedicated him a poem, which can be read on the tombstone of Anders Bing at Smedstorp's church. After the Bing family, the estate was owned by the noble Quitzow, Bülow och Kruus families until 1640, when Smedstorp belonged to the Danish Stewart of the Realm Jochum Gersdorff. Upon the treaty in Roskilde 1658, Scania became Swedish, after previously having belonged to Denmark, and as part of the treaty the island of Bornholm was to belong to Sweden. Tomelilla Municipality
Tomelilla Municipality () is a municipality in Skåne County in southern Sweden. Its seat is located in the town Tomelilla. The municipality was formed through a series of amalgamations taking place in 1952, 1969 and 1971. The number of pre-1952 units making up the present municipality is twenty. Ystad
Ystad () is a town and the seat of Ystad Municipality, in Scania County, Sweden. Ystad had 18,350 inhabitants in 2010. The settlement dates from the 11th century and has become a busy ferryport, local administrative centre, and tourist attraction. Etymology In 1285, the town's name was written ''Ystath''. Sandhammaren
Sandhammaren is a Swedish lighthouse, and the name of both a beach and a point east of Ystad in Scania. At first two identical lighthouses were constructed, because it was a risk to mistake this lighthouse with the one on Ertholmene. The flame first ran on colza oil. Later on (1891), one of the lighthouses was put out of service and moved to Pite-Rönnskär in Norrland, at the same time the lamp was transformed to a paraffin lamp. The lighthouse was electrified in 1952. The Swedish Maritime Administration owns and runs the lighthouse. Österlen ()) is a region in the southeast of the Swedish province of Scania (Skåne). Historically, the region was shared between the counties of Kristianstad County, Kristianstad and Malmöhus County, Malmöhus for a small part in the southwest, until Skåne County was created in 1997.
