Slobodan Pajic
Slobodan Pajic (born 1943) is a visual artist who uses a variety of media (primarily video, laser light, photography, film, sound) in his plastic research. He began very early to work with new technologies to create unique abstract and graphic forms, employing a series of chance techniques at the limits of technology, which he transforms into video films, graphics, installations and sculptures. Pajic follows progress in the sciences and adopts the latest concepts and technology in a quest for new forms, new materials and new artistic possibilities. Biography Born August 16, 1943, in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Pajic arrived in Paris in 1966 to study art history at the Sorbonne but was soon prompted to reorient himself to his own painting. He lives and works in Paris and has become a French citizen. Bay Area Video Coalition
BAVC Media, previously known as the Bay Area Video Coalition (BAVC), is a nonprofit organization that works to connect independent producers and underrepresented communities to emerging media technologies. It was founded in 1976 in San Francisco. History BAVC was founded in 1976 by a coalition of media-makers and activists who, initially, wanted to find alternative, civic-minded applications for a new technology – PortaPak video. In 1976, The Rockefeller Foundation provided seed funding to a coalition of media makers, journalists, educators, and non-profit activists to complete a study that ultimately called for the founding of a media arts nonprofit. Stéphanie Moisdon (born 1967) is a French curator and art critic. She was co-curator of the exhibition ''Présumés Innocents'' in Bordeaux, 2000; ''Manifesta 4'' in Frankfurt, 2001; and ''Before the End'' at Consortium, Dijon, 2004. Nancy Wilson-Pajic (born 1941) is an artist who uses narrative forms (primarily recorded text installations, but also video, performance, photography) to make narrative, content-oriented artworks. Biography Wilson-Pajic was born in Peru, Indiana in 1941. She studied art, literature and psychology in Indiana and graduated from Cooper Union, New York in 1972 with a BFA. Wilson-Pajic began her work in new media in the mid-1960s in New York, installing taped texts “In Situ” in everyday environments, and recording her performance works. In 1973, when she was invited to participate in a performance series at Artists Space in New York, she installed taped texts dealing with such issues as art world celebrity (''Limelight'') and women’s daily lives (''Visiting Hour''), which created a polemic in the art world because of their form as well as their contents. Kathy Rae Huffman
Kathy Rae Huffman is an American curator, writer, producer, researcher, lecturer and expert for video and media art. Since the early 1980s, Huffman is said to have helped establish video and new media art, online and interactive art, installation and performance art in the visual arts world. She has curated, written about, and coordinated events for numerous international art institutes, consulted and juried for festivals and alternative arts organisations. Huffman not only introduced video and digital computer art to museum exhibitions, she also pioneered tirelessly to bring television channels and video artists together, in order to show video artworks on TV. Pierre Emmanuel
Noël Mathieu (3 May 1916, Gan, Pyrénées-Atlantiques – 22 September 1984, Paris) better known under his pseudonym Pierre Emmanuel, was a French poet of Christian inspiration. Biography He was the third member elected to occupy seat 4 of the Académie française in 1968, president of PEN International between 1969 and 1971, president of French PEN Club between 1973 and 1976, and the first president of the French Institut national de l'audiovisuel in 1975. Serpentine Gallery
The Serpentine Galleries are two contemporary art galleries in Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Central London. Recently rebranded to just Serpentine, the organisation is split across Serpentine South, previously known as the Serpentine Gallery, and Serpentine North, previously known as the Sackler Gallery. The gallery spaces are within five minutes' walk of each other, linked by the bridge over the Serpentine Lake from which the galleries get their names.
