Slavija ( sr-cyr, Славија) was one of the seven municipalities composing the city of Novi Sad between 1980 and 1989. Veliki Rit ( sr-cyr, Велики Рит) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Name Name "veliki rit" means "big marsh" in Serbian. Location Veliki Rit is located in the northern part of Novi Sad between Klisa and Slana Bara in the west, Mišin Salaš and Mali Beograd in the south, Deponija in the north, and Radna Zona Sever 4 in the east. Kovilj () is a suburban settlement of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. The village has a Serb ethnic majority and its population numbering 5,599 people (2002 census). Name In Serbian language, Serbian, the village is known as ''Kovilj'' or Ковиљ, in Croatian language, Croatian as ''Kovilj'', and in Hungarian language, Hungarian as ''Kabol''. The Serbian name of the village derived from Serbian word "kovilj", which is a name for one sort of flower grass. Geography The village is divided into Gornji Kovilj (Upper Kovilj) and Donji Kovilj (Lower Kovilj), which were two separate settlements in the past, but today are parts of one single settlement. Kać () is a suburban settlement of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. The town has a Serb ethnic majority and its population was 11,612 at the 2011 census. Šangaj ( sr-cyr, Шангај) is an urban neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. It is situated close to the Danube, and is surrounded by the Novi Sad industrial zones, right next to the oil refinery of Naftna Industrija Srbije. It covers an area of 0.13 km². Name The old name of the area was Vrbak. In the Interwar period, the name of the settlement was Brančićevo Naselje ("Brančić's settlement"), named after Brančić who was the owner of the ''Šangaj'' snack bar, the first building built there. Klisa ( sr, Клиса) is an urban area of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. Name Its name derived from Latin word "ecclesia", meaning "church place". During Ottoman rule, the Serb population used word "klisa" to designate places where ruins of the church buildings were located.
