Kać () is a suburban settlement of the city of Novi Sad, Serbia. The town had a population of 11,612 in the 2011 census. Name In Serbo-Croatian, the town is known as ''Kać'' or Каћ, in Hungarian as ''Káty'', and in German as ''Katsch''. History Kać was first mentioned during the administration of the medieval Kingdom of Hungary in 1276 as ''in villa Hatt'', while from 1332 to 33, it was mentioned as ''Mathias de Shacz''. During the Habsburg rule in the 18th and 19th century, the village was part of the Military Frontier (the Šajkaš Battalion section). RK Jugović () is a Serbian handball club based in Kać, Novi Sad. They compete in the top tier Serbian handball league, the Arkus league. History Founded as RK Mladost in 1956, the club changed its name to RK Jugović in 1960. They made their Yugoslav Handball Championship debut in 1984. ''Šajkaši'' (In Serbian, sr-cyrl, шајкаши, ) refers to the river flotilla troops guarding the Danube and Sava, and especially, the Port of Belgrade, against the Ottoman Empire from the 16th to the 19th century. During that period, the rivers were natural borders of the Kingdom of Hungary and Habsburg monarchy with the Ottoman Empire, part of the Military Frontier. The troops were composed of ethnic Serbs, who had special military status. Their name derives from the small wooden boat known as '' chaika'' (šajka, tschaiken), a type of galley. Perlez (; ) is a village located in the Zrenjanin municipality, in the Central Banat District of Serbia. It is situated in the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. The village has a Serb ethnic majority (87.29%) and its population numbering 3,818 people (2002 census). Famous residents: Milan Ponjević (actor). History Baden culture graves and ceramics (bowls, anthropomorphic urns) were found in the village. The town originally consisted of a hamlet named Siga, next to which a fort called Šanac was built in the early-18th Century.
