Sky High (song)
"Sky High" is a song by British band Jigsaw. It was released as a single in 1975 and was the main title theme to the film ''The Man from Hong Kong''. The song was a worldwide hit in the latter part of 1975, reaching No. 3 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and No. 4 on the Adult Contemporary chart in the United States. It was composed by Clive Scott and Des Dyer of Jigsaw. The orchestral arrangement was by Richard Hewson. It was also a top 10 hit on the UK Singles Chart. The 1975 Australian single was released under the name "British Jigsaw" due to an established and popular local band there at the time also called " Jigsaw". Two years later, the song gained more striking commercial success in Japan, peaking at No. 2 on the Oricon singles chart and selling approximately 570,000 copies. ZYX Records released an extended 12" version in 1987. A remixed version of the original Jigsaw cut by PWL remixer Pete Hammond was a minor dance hit in the US in the spring of 1989. Kent Music Report
The Kent Music Report was a weekly record chart of Australian music singles and albums which was compiled by music historian David Kent from May 1974 through to January 1999. The chart was re-branded the Australian Music Report (AMR) in July 1987. From June 1988, the Australian Recording Industry Association, which had been using the top 50 portion of the report under licence since mid-1983, chose to produce their own listing as the ARIA Charts. Before the Kent Report, ''Go-Set'' magazine published weekly Top 40 Singles from 1966, and albums chart from 1970 until the magazine's demise in August 1974. David Kent later published Australian charts from 1940 to 1973 in a retrospective fashion, using state by state chart data obtained from various Australian radio stations. Matt Aitken
Matthew James Aitken (born 25 August 1956) is an English songwriter and record producer, brought up in Astley, Greater Manchester, best known as part of the 1980s/early-1990s songwriting/production trio Stock Aitken Waterman. Biography He began his musical career as a musician and was a member of many bands before joining Mike Stock to write and produce music for other artists. They both later teamed up with Pete Waterman, and went from small independent record labels to the major RCA Records, producing myriad hits. Michael Stock (born 3 December 1951) is an English songwriter, record producer, musician, and member of the songwriting and production trio Stock Aitken Waterman. He has been responsible for over a hundred top-40 hits in the UK, including 16 number ones and is recognised as one of the most successful songwriters of all time by the ''Guinness World Records''. William Newton Myers (born 3 June 1967), also known as Billy Myers and professionally as Newton, is a British singer and former firefighter. He is best known as a cover artist, with success in Australia, the United Kingdom and Brazil. Career In 1994, Newton released their debut single, " Sky High", a cover of the 1975 hit by Jigsaw, which was produced by Mike Stock and Matt Aitken. "Sky High" peaked at number 8 in Australia in April 1995 and was certified gold. Originally a one-off project, this version features vocals by Jigsaw's Des Deyer, and features shots of Dyer in the video. Reception was good and Myers was brought in as vocalist to keep the project active and provide a stable persona. Springbok Radio (spelled ''Springbokradio'' in Afrikaans, ) was a South African nationwide radio station that operated from 1950 to 1985. History SABC's decision in December 1945 to develop a commercial service was constrained by post-war financial issues.
