Skunk (community)
Skunk was a Swedish social networking community website founded in 1998. It was one of the pioneers in the field, and the largest community website in Sweden in 2000, mostly popular with teenagers. It was subsequently overtaken by competitors such as Lunarstorm and Playahead. Skunk became part of Spray Network Spray Network AB is a Swedish Internet company that runs the web portal spray.se. Spray was founded in 1995, was bought by Lycos Europe, but was sold to Allers in 2006. spray.se has about 750 000 visitors per week. In 2004 Spray bought the Swedis .... In June 2010 Spray Network announced that they had decided to shut down the site and it closed on 30 June 2010. Lunarstorm
LunarStorm, in Swedish often shortened to Lunar, was a Swedish commercial advertisement-financed social networking website for teenagers, which was also available in the United Kingdom before 2007. "LunarStorm" was operated by a company called LunarWorks. According to the company's official statistics, the website had 1.2 million members in 2007, of whom some 70% were 12–17 years old. The website drastically dropped in popularity since then and in June 2010, Wyatt Media Groups (the owner of LunarStorm at that time) announced that LunarStorm would be shut down on 18 August 2010 due to lack of activity. Playahead
Playahead was a large Internet community mainly aimed at Swedish teenagers. The site was founded 1998 and became one of the largest Internet communities in Sweden. At its height of popularity, Playahead was, together with LunarStorm and Hamsterpaj, the most popular social networks amongst Swedish teenagers. About Playahead was a site much alike LunarStorm. It was a place for teenagers to meet, talk, write to each other, look at each other's pictures and debate in forums. Members could also pay a small fee of "Playahead-Dollars" to create a team, based on their interest, and then other members could join the team. Most of the members were between 13 and 24 years old. History The site was founded by Jonas Frost, Magnus Hansson and Henrik Weimenhög, and was from the beginning named " Hångelguiden" (translates to The Make Out Guide).
