Frederikssund Municipality
Frederikssund Kommune () is a municipality ( da, kommune) on the shores of Roskilde Fjord in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. On 1 January 2007, the municipality was enlarged to include the old Jægerspris, Slangerup, and Skibby municipalities. It now covers an area of 250 km² and has a population of 44,401 (1 January 2014). As of 1 January 2014 its mayor is John Schmidt Andersen, a member of the agrarian liberal Venstre political party. Frederikssund municipality belongs to Region Hovedstaden (''Capital Region''). The seat of its municipal council is the town of Frederikssund with a population of 15,283 (1 January 2009). The town is connected to the Hornsherred peninsula by the Kronprins Frederik bridge. Hermann Baagøe Storck (18 February 1839 – 4 December 1922) was a Danish architect and heraldist. As an architect, he is mainly known for the restoration of historic buildings. Among his own designs, his building for the Hirschsprung Collection in Copenhagen is the most widely known. Early life and career Hermann Baagøe Storck was born on 18 February 1839 in the small town of Skibby on the Hornsherred peninsula, west of Copenhagen. He attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts between 1859 and 1865 where he studied under Johan Henrik Nebelong and Johan Daniel Herholdt, for both of whom he also worked. He was also influenced by Niels Laurits Høyen's lectures on art history which strengthened his interest in architectural history in general and historic Danish architecture in particular. Slangerup is a town in Frederikssund Municipality, about 30 km north-west of central Copenhagen, in the Capital Region of Denmark. The town of Slangerup The town was established by the Viking Slangir at the time of Harald Bluetooth. King Eric I of Denmark (ca. 1070-July 1103), was born in Slangerup. Sophie Holten
Sophie Holten (1858–1930) was a Danish painter who created portraits, flower paintings and genre works. She is remembered in particular for her portraits of August Strindberg and L. A. Ring. She was also active in social work and feminism. Biography Born on 12 August 1858 in Skuldelev, Hornsherred, Sophie Holten was the daughter of the parish priest Hans Nicolai Holten (1829–71) and Marenstine Smith (1830-1913). She received private instruction in painting from Christen Dalsgaard in Sorø and later from Carl Thomsen in Copenhagen. From 1875 to 1876, she attended N. Zahle's School. In 1879, she went to Paris where she tried to assimilate the most modern methods of painting from teachers including Félix-Joseph Barrias and Alfred Stevens. The Hirschsprung Collection
The Hirschsprung Collection ( Danish: Den Hirschsprungske Samling) is an art museum located on Stockholmsgade in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located in a parkland setting in Østre Anlæg, near the Danish National Gallery, and houses a large collection of Danish art from the 19th and early 20th century. The emphasis is on the Danish Golden Age, from 1800 to 1850, but also the Skagen Painters and other representatives of the Modern Breakthrough are well represented. The museum is built around the personal art collection of Heinrich Hirschsprung, a tobacco manufacturer and patron of the arts who founded his art collection in 1865. The Capital Region of Denmark ( da, Region Hovedstaden, ) is the easternmost administrative region of Denmark. The Capital Region has 29 municipalities and a regional council consisting of 41 elected members. As of 1 August 2021 the chairperson is Lars Gaardhøj, who is a member of the Social Democrats party of Denmark. The Capital Region was established on 1 January 2007 as part of the 2007 Danish Municipal Reform. This reform abolished the traditional counties (Danish plural: , singular: ) and created five regions.
