"Stakeboard" aka "Skateboard (Uh Ah Ah)" is song that became a 1977 single for German group Copains and a single for singer Benny Schnier. Both versions made the charts that year. It has been covered by a multitude of artists since the original release. The song had a resurgence of interest the mid-2000s. Overview The song Skateboard was written by Hans-Ulrich Weigel, Frank Farian, Stefan Klinkhammer, and Roland Kaiser. Along with " Amigo Charlie Brown" and "Bin wieder frei", "Skateboard" brought Frank Farian considerable success. With the kids riding around on skateboards and being noticed by Roland Kaiser and Frank Farian, an idea for a song came about. It was Kaiser who suggested to Farian that a song should be made about the sport. The idea appealed to Farian and with Kaiser, Fred Jay and Hans-Ulrich Weigel, Farian composed Skateboard. Franz Reuther (18 July 1941 – 23 January 2024), known professionally as Frank Farian, was a German record producer and singer who founded the 1970s disco-pop group Boney M., the pop band No Mercy (pop band), No Mercy, and the pop band Milli Vanilli. He frequently created vocal groups in which the publicised members merely lip-synced to songs sung by session performers. Farian owned the record label MCI and several subsidiaries. Early life Farian was born in Kirn, Germany, on 18 July 1941. He and two siblings were raised by his mother, because his father was killed in World War II before his birth. He trained as a cook before discovering rock and roll, renaming himself Frank Farian, and forming a band called Frankie Boys Schatten. ''Bravo'' (stylized in all caps) is the largest teen magazine within the German-language sphere. The first issue was published in 1956. History The founder of ''Bravo'' was columnist Peter Boenisch. The first issue was published on 26 August 1956 with thirty thousand copies printed, cost 50 Pfennig (equivalent to € in ). Marilyn Monroe's portrait graced the first published issue; the never-published dummy issue cover displayed Elvis Presley. The publication was initially subtitled "The Magazine for Film and Television" (). Disaster Area (band)
Disaster Area is a German punk band who have been around since the 1980s. They were in the Skate-punk genre. Background They were described by Pushead in Maximum Rocknroll as "Probably the first German skate-oriented band". Among the bands in Berlin trying to make a go of it, Disaster Area began in the 1980s. The nucleus of the group was the Thummerer brothers who started out as C&A. They didn't rehearse much and hardly played any gigs. The legacy of this band is just some songs on two tape samplers. The name for this group came from watching ''Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'' which featured a band called Disaster Area, the loudest band in the universe. They were described by ''Burn Your Ears'' as five guys dabbling in the Skate-punk genre who caused a stir in the late 1980s. They went through a series of lineup changes. "Rivers of Babylon" is a Rastafari movement, Rastafari song written and recorded by Brent Dowe and Trevor McNaughton of the Jamaican reggae group the Melodians in 1970.
