He frequently created vocal groups in which the publicised members merely lip-synced to songs sung by session performers. Farian owned the record label MCI and several subsidiaries. Early life Farian was born in Kirn, Germany, on 18 July 1941. He and two siblings were raised by his mother, because his father was killed in World War II before his birth. In 1964, they released their first single, "Shouting Ghost", which was a failure. Career In April 1967, he released a cover of Otis Redding's "Mr. Pitiful" under the name 'Frankie Farian'. Rocky (song)
"Rocky" is a song written by Ronald Johnson (aka Woody P. Snow) and performed by American country music artist Dickey Lee. It was released in July 1975 as the fifth single and title track from the album ''Rocky''. On the country chart, "Rocky" was Lee's most successful single, and his only number one. It spent fourteen weeks on the chart, including one week at number one. Content In a paradoxically upbeat melody in a major key, Rocky, the title protagonist, tells the tragic story of his young wife in first person. He first recalls the day four years earlier where, as an 18-year-old college student, he met his wife-to-be (unnamed in the song) and recalls how well they hit it off. She accepts Rocky's marriage proposal, and they spend the next several months fixing up an old house to make their home. The two soon learn they are expecting their first child, a girl. Although the family has its usual problems, the happy memories outweigh the bad. One example is a particularly ramb ...

Take The Heat Off Me
''Take the Heat off Me'' is the debut album by Euro-Caribbean group Boney M. The album became a major seller in Europe, specifically in the Nordic countries (number 1 in Sweden and Finland, number 2 in Norway), but in the U.S. the album just missed the album chart. Tracks include the hits " Daddy Cool" (number 1 in eight European countries, number 65 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100), " Sunny" (top 5 in many European countries) and the debut single "Baby Do You Wanna Bump". Additional information Producer Frank Farian was in a hurry to capitalize on the sudden success of "Daddy Cool" and put together the first Boney M. album quickly, made possible by the use of cover versions and by reusing already existing recordings. While "Baby Do You Wanna Bump" was reworked from Prince Buster's "Al Capone" (although credited to Farian's alias 'Zambi'), "Sunny", "No Woman No Cry" and "Fever" are cover versions of well-known tracks, albeit rearranged. The title track "Take the Heat off Me" is als ...

Baby Do You Wanna Bump
"Baby, Do You Wanna Bump" is a song recorded by German record producer Frank Farian under the name Boney M., and included on the group's 1976 debut album '' Take the Heat off Me''. Released as the first Boney M. single, it became a minor hit in the Netherlands and Belgium, prompting Farian to create a proper group to promote his studio project. In the United Kingdom, the single was released by Creole Records, but went unnoticed. Concept and release "Baby, Do You Wanna Bump" - a remake of Prince Buster's 1960s song "Al Capone" - was written by producer Frank Farian under the pseudonym Zambi, with Farian himself doing the deep male lead vocal, as well as the high falsetto backing vocals. George Reyam was also credited as a composer on Part II, but the label did not mention Prince Buster, who had written "Al Capone". When the song was included on the Boney M. debut album ''Take the Heat off Me'', Farian joined the A- and B-sides of the original single (Parts I & II) together and cre ...

Skate-punk
Skate punk (also known as skatecore and skate rock) is a skater subculture and punk rock subgenre that developed in the 1980s. Originally a form of hardcore punk that had been closely associated with skate culture, skate punk evolved into a more melodic genre of punk rock in the 1990s similar to pop punk. Since then, it has predominately featured fast tempos, lead guitar playing (including guitar riffs and guitar solos), fast drumming, and singing (sometimes including vocal harmonies). Occasionally, skate punk also combines the fast tempos of hardcore punk and melodic hardcore with the catchy hooks of pop-punk. 1970s and early 1980s punk rock bands like Buzzcocks, Descendents, Adolescents, Black Flag, and Circle Jerks paved the way for skate punk. Skate punk was pioneered in the 1980s by bands such as the Big Boys, Suicidal Tendencies, JFA, T.S.O.L., Drunk Injuns and Love Canal. Many early skate punk bands are part of the hardcore punk movement nardcore, which emerged in Oxna ...

Kjell Vidars was a Norwegian band who recorded from the 1970s to the 1990s. Their recordings were released on the Nett, Snowflake, Troll and Mariann record labels. Background Kjell Vidars came about by chance. It was around 1969 when they were formed. Kjell Karlsen's band was supposed to play at an event in Granvang that was to do with the Vestre Gran Sports Association. However they pulled out. So, with the organizers not having musical entertainment, Arne Støen from Vestre Gran had the task to put together a band. He got Ole Vidar Lien to come in, and also Kjell Bjørklund was brought in. Arne Støen said that that they had to come up with name and his name sounded so bad that it couldn't be used. According to Ole Vidar Lien in a ''Hadeland'' article, with only a short period of time left to put it in the paper for an advertisement, the name Kjell Vidars was used. During the band's career, they recorded songs such as " Puff, den lille dragen", "Veien hjem til Hadeland", "Sk ...
