Sishya (film)
''Sishya'' () is a 1997 Indian Tamil language, Tamil-language romantic comedy film directed by Selva (director), Selva. The film stars Karthik (actor), Karthik and Roshini (actress), Roshini and was released on 27 April 1997. It was a box office failure. Plot Shruti, the daughter of a minister, flees from Delhi to Chennai, where she falls in love with Aravindan. However, fate intervenes when the Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI locates her and sends her back to Delhi. Cast Soundtrack The soundtrack was composed by Deva (composer), Deva. Critical reception K. N. Vijiyan of ''New Straits Times'' wrote, "All in all, humour is a strong element in [''Sishya'']. That alone saves the movie from being a mediocre effort". Selva (floruit, fl. 1990s) is an Indian director active in Tamil film. He often specializes in film remakes and directed a series of hits the 1990s. His first film ''Thalaivasal (film), Thalaivasal'' launched the career of many. His noted film are ''Amaravathi (1993 film), Amaravathi'', ''Karnaa'', ''Pooveli'', ''James Pandu'', ''Unnaruge Naan Irundhal'', ''Student Number 1'' and ''Naan Avanillai (2007 film), Naan Avanillai''. He introduced Ajith Kumar through his second film ''Amaravathi (1993 film), Amaravathi''. Early life Selva was graduated from Pachaiyappa's College. Gowtham Sundararajan
Gowtham Sundararajan is an Indian actor and choreographer who has worked on Tamil-language films and in television dramas. Career Gowtham Sundararajan was born to Tamil actor Major Sundarrajan and Shyamala in Madras, Tamil Nadu. He studied at Vivekananda College and graduated in 1989, before attempting to make a breakthrough in the film industry by appearing in item numbers, featuring in various projects including K. Balachander's '' Azhagan'' (1990). He married Kokila Hariram in September 1996. In 1998, along with his wife, he founded the Academy of Modern Dance, Chennai's first formal Western dance school. New Straits Times
The ''New Straits Times'' is an English-language newspaper published in Malaysia. Sabesh and Murali are siblings who began their careers working under their brother, the music director Deva, as assistant composers. Swarnalatha
Swarnalatha (29 April 1973 – 12 September 2010) was an Indian playback singer. In a career spanning almost 22 years (from 1987 until her death), she recorded over 10,000 songs in many Indian languages, including Tamil language, Tamil, Telugu language, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi, Urdu, Bengali language, Bengali, Oriya language, Oriya, Punjabi language, Punjabi, and Badaga language, Badaga. She won the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for her rendition of the song "Porale Ponnuthayi" from the film ''Karuththamma''. The song was composed by A. R. Palani Bharathi or Pazhani Bharathi ( or ) is an Indian writer and lyricist who works in Tamil cinema. Early life Palani Bharathi was born in Karaikudi to Sami Palaniappan, a poet, and Kamala. He has a brother and four sisters. Palaniappan was an assistant of orator/writer Kundrakudi Adigal and follower of poet Bharathidasan. When Palaniappan moved to Madras (now Chennai) with his family in search of work, he got a job in the government newspaper ''Tamil Arasu''. As a result, Bharathi studied and grew in Chennai. Uma Ramanan
Uma Ramanan (1954/1955 – 1 May 2024) was an Indian playback singer, predominantly in the Tamil language. She was also a live stage performer who appeared in more than 6,000 concerts spanning 35 years. Ramanan came from the Tamil Nadu state of India. Personal life and background Whilst studying, Ramanan went through classical music training under Pazhani Vijayalakshmi. She participated in many inter-collegiate competitions and won several rewards and accolades. Later, she met A. V.
