Sinéad Gibney
Sinéad Gibney (born ) is an Irish Social Democrats politician who has been a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin Rathdown constituency since the 2024 general election. She is the Social Democrats Spokesperson for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation; Enterprise, Tourism and Employment; Foreign Affairs and Trade; and Defence. Early life and education Gibney was born and grew up in Blackrock. She is a cousin of the comedian Des Bishop. Gibney graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History and Politics from Ulster University. During her time at Ulster, Gibney was a Student Union officer and president. She went on to complete a Master of Science (MSc) in IT and Education at Trinity College Dublin; a postgraduate certificate in Cyberpsychology at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT); and another MSc in Equality Studies at University College Dublin (UCD). A Teachta Dála ( ; ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish language, Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas, the parliament of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Clare Daly (born 16 April 1968) is an Irish politician who was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Ireland for the Dublin constituency from July 2019 to July 2024. Ciarán Cuffe (born 3 April 1963) is an Irish politician who has been co-chair of the European Green Party (EGP) since December 2024. The government of Ireland held two referendums on 8 March 2024 on proposed amendments to the Constitution of Ireland. 2024 European Parliament Election In Ireland
The 2024 European Parliament election in Ireland is the Irish component of the 2024 European Parliament election and was held on Friday, 7 June 2024, the same day as the Irish local elections and Limerick mayoral election. Electoral system Ireland is entitled to 14 MEPs in the Tenth European Parliament. They are elected on the electoral system of proportional representation by means of the single transferable vote in three constituencies: *Dublin (4 seats); * Midlands–North-West (5 seats); and *South (5 seats).
