Clare Daly
Clare Daly (born 16 April 1968) is an Irish politician who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Ireland for the Dublin constituency since July 2019. She is a member of Independents 4 Change, part of The Left in the European Parliament – GUE/NGL. In the 1980s Daly was a member of the Labour Party as a teenager but was expelled alongside other members after being accused of being Trotskyists infiltrating the party using the tactic of entryism. She was subsequently a founding member of "Militant Labour", later known as the Socialist Party. In 1999 she was elected to Fingal County Council, a position she held for 12 years. Daly was elected as a Socialist Party TD for the Dublin North constituency at the 2011 general election. Since 2012, Daly has formed a close political association with Mick Wallace. Claire Daly
Claire Daly is a baritone saxophonist and composer. Early life Daly was born in Bronxville, New York. She began playing the saxophone at the age of 12, becoming interested in jazz when she attended a Buddy Rich performance at the Westchester County Center. She attended Berklee College of Music, mainly playing alto and tenor saxophones, and graduated in 1980. Later life and career After graduating, Daly played alto and tenor saxophone in two rock bands while performing jazz in the Boston area. She moved to New York City in 1985 and began her career as a freelance baritone saxophonist. Beginning in the mid-1990s, she performed frequently with pianist Joel Forrester and together they released 6 CDs. Daly's first album as a leader, ''Swing Low'', was released in 1999. United Left Alliance
The United Left Alliance ( ga, Comhaontas Aontaithe an Chlé, ULA) was an electoral alliance of left-wing political parties and independent politicians in the Republic of Ireland, formed to contest the 2011 general election. The grouping originally consisted of three existing political parties, the Socialist Party, the People Before Profit Alliance (PBPA), and the Workers and Unemployed Action Group (WUAG), as well as former members of the Labour Party. Its formation was announced in early November 2010 and it was formally launched on 29 November 2010 at the Gresham Hotel in Dublin. Mick Wallace
Michael Wallace (born 9 November 1955) is an Irish politician and former property developer who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Ireland for the South constituency since July 2019. He is a member of Independents 4 Change, part of The Left in the European Parliament – GUE/NGL. He was a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Wexford constituency from 2011 to 2019. Entering politics in 2011 following the post-2008 Irish economic downturn, Wallace was almost immediately considered to be one of the most eccentric and unconventional figures in Irish national politics. It is one of three local authorities that comprised the former Dublin County Council before its abolition on 1 January 1994 and is one of four local authorities in County Dublin.
