It was released in November 1980 as the album's third single, reaching number one in several countries. It was the group's ninth and final number one on the UK Singles Chart and the fourth best-selling single in the UK that year, selling over 700,000 copies in that country alone. The song's name refers to the Super Trouper, a make of followspot used in large venues. Background The song – with lead vocals by Anni-Frid Lyngstad – had the working title "Blinka Lilla Stjärna" (i.e. Twinkle Little Star, in Swedish), and was the last track to be written and recorded for the album (ultimately replacing the track " Put on Your White Sombrero"). "Ring Ring (Bara du slog en signal)", in English: ''"Ring Ring (If only you called)"'', titled simply as "Ring Ring" in the English single version, is a song by Swedish group ABBA, released as the title track of their 1973 debut album. The song was written in Swedish by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, along with their manager Stig Anderson, with the original title of "Ring Ring (Bara du slog en signal)" ("Ring Ring (If Only You Called)"). As in other languages, the English translation (helped by Neil Sedaka and his collaborator Phil Cody) showed notable changes in the original lyrics but with a similar meaning, including a new chorus: "Ring, ring, why don't you give me a call?". The Swedish version reached No. 1 in the Swedish charts. "Ring Ring" tells of a lover waiting alone by the telephone fo ... The B-side, "Crazy World", was recorded in 1976 during the sessions for the ''ABBA'' album. Mamma Mia (ABBA Song)
"Mamma Mia" is a song by the Swedish pop group ABBA, written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson, with the lead vocals shared by Agnetha Fältskog and Anni-Frid Lyngstad. It is the opening track on the group's third album, the self-titled ''ABBA'' (1975). The song was released in September 1975 as its sixth single. It tells the story of the narrator's on-again, off-again relationship with a lover who is repeatedly unfaithful to her. The song's name is derived from Italian and literally translates as "my mother", but is used as an interjection (''Mamma mia!'') in situations of surprise, anguish, or excitement. The song was ABBA's first number one in the UK since " Waterloo" in 1974. History and impact The distinctive sound at the start of the song is the marimba. Knowing Me, Knowing You
"Knowing Me, Knowing You" is a song recorded by Swedish pop group ABBA, released in February 1977 as the third single from the group's fourth album, '' Arrival'' (1976). It was written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson, with Anni-Frid Lyngstad singing the lead vocals. Background "Knowing Me, Knowing You" was recorded in 1976 at the Metronome Studios in Stockholm and was released as a single in February 1977, becoming one of the group's more successful hits. The B-side, "Happy Hawaii", was an early version of another ABBA song, " Why Did It Have to Be Me?", with a different lead vocalist and lyrics. "Conociéndome, Conociéndote" is the Spanish-language version of the song. It was included on th ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do
"I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" is a song by Swedish pop group ABBA. It was the third single to be released from their third studio album, ''ABBA'' (1975). The song was written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and their manager Stig Anderson, and was released in April 1975 with "Rock Me" as the B-side. The song was recorded on 21 February 1975 at Glen Studio, and was inspired by the European schlager music of the 1950s, as well as the saxophone sound of the 1950s American orchestra leader Billy Vaughn. History After the release of " Waterloo", ABBA were having difficulty establishing themselves as an act with longevity. "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" put ABBA firmly back in the spotlight in many territories. With a rousing saxophone tune and homage to 1950s schlager music, "I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do" was a significant improvement for the group on the international charts, although it made little impact in Britain. The song's popularity was boosted (particularly in Australi ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

It was released as the second single from the album the following year. As with the first single, a different A-side was chosen in the US, although this time the sides were merely switched, " The Visitors" being the A-side. History "Head Over Heels", whose working title was "Tango", was written and composed by both Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus. Agnetha Fältskog sang the lead vocals, singing about her "very good friend", played in the music video by Anni-Frid Lyngstad, an overactive high-society woman who rushes through the shops, with her hapless and exhausted husband (played by Ulvaeus) following behind and being forced to carry the shopping bags. The song's video, filmed on 21 January 1982, was the group's final clip directed by long-time collaborator Lasse Hallström, who also cameos as a man the woman bumps into while running aroun ...
