Sin-hung Tam
Sin-hung Tam () is a Chinese opera singer and actress from Hong Kong. Tam is credited with over 140 films. Early life On August 28, 1931, Tam was born in Macau. Career At age 13, Tam entered the entertainment business and started her career performing Cantonese opera. Tam studied under Yam Kim-fai. In 1953, Tam crossed over as an actress in Hong Kong films. Tam appeared in Sworn to Love, a 1953 comedy film directed by Chiang Wai-Kwong. Tam appeared in The Lion's Roar with both Yam Kim-fai and Pak Suet Sin, a 1959 Cantonese opera film directed by Chiang Wai-Kwong. In 1970, Tam retired from the Cantonese film industry, but in 1987, she returned to acting. Cantonese opera is one of the major categories in Chinese opera, originating in southern China's Guangdong Province. Yam Kim-fai
Yam Kim-fai (, 4 February 1913 (Lunar 29 December 1912 – 29 November 1989), also known as Ren Jianhui was a Cantonese opera actress in China and Hong Kong. Yam was most notable for her unique ability to sing in the lower register. That her opera voice was indistinguishable from a male one allowed her to play either male or female roles, though she usually performed male ones. On 24 June 1972, Yam performed for the last time in public and TV viewers looked for the "man" they knew from movies/stage performances. They did not expect to see her in a 2-piece set of jacket and qipao (cheongsam) with floral print. Pak Suet Sin (born 19 May 1928 in Guangzhou, Guangdong, China), also known as Bai Xuexian, is a retired Cantonese opera actress/singer in China and Hong Kong. Career Bak is notable for pairing up with fellow Cantonese opera star Yam Kim Fai. Two of her major works are ''The Peony Pavilion'' and '' Tai Nui Fa''. She has received awards from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong University for her contribution to the opera art form. In April 2001 she received a ''"Lifetime achievement award"'' from the Hong Kong Film Awards from Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan. ''A Kindred Spirit'' ( zh, c= 真情) is a television drama series that was broadcast on TVB Jade in Hong Kong from 15 May 1995 to 13 November 1999. It is one of the longest running drama shows in Hong Kong television history (the longest being the sitcom Hong Kong 81 series). Its exceptional longevity is unusual for a city where scripted TV drama programs typically only last around 20 episodes. The total number of episodes is 1,128.
