TVB Jade (), or simply Jade, is a Hong Kong Hong Kong Cantonese, Cantonese-language Terrestrial television, free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) as its flagship service, alongside its sister network, the English-language TVB Pearl. Broadcasting started on 19 November 1967. It is headquartered at TVB City at the Tseung Kwan O Industrial Estate in Tseung Kwan O, in the Sai Kung District. Primarily broadcasting entertainment programming, TVB Jade has historically been the most dominant television channel in the region in terms of viewership, with its closest competitor having been the now-defunct ATV Home. In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. ATV Home () was a free-to-air Cantonese television channel in Hong Kong, owned and operated by Asia Television. It was formed in September 1963 as a result of the split of the bilingual Rediffusion Television subscription service (which was primarily owned by British company Rediffusion) into dedicated Cantonese and English-language services. In 1969, the broadcaster was granted a license for over-the-air broadcasting. Facing heavy competition from its free-to-air competitor TVB Jade, a change in ownership in 2010 and an attempt to cut back on dramas in favour of more current affairs, news, and talk programming resulted in further financial losses and internal conflicts. TVB Xing He
TVB Xing He () is a Hong Kong pay television channel owned by , a subsidiary of TVB. It is primarily broadcast in Mandarin. History In 1998, TVB's subsidiary TVB Satellite Broadcasting Limited established TVB8 and TVB Xing He to enter overseas Chinese satellite TV market. TVB8 and TVB Xing He were approved by the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television of the People's Republic of China for the mainland China viewers. On 1 January 2018, TVB Xing He revamped their channel's appearance and program line, omitting mainland Chinese dramas from the roster. However, they still continue for mainland Chinese variety shows. Astro Wah Lai Toi () is a Cantonese Video on demand service (formerly a Cantonese TV channel) owned and operated by Astro in partnership with Hong Kong's TVB. The channel offers mainly TVB programming, alongside some local content.
