Siiri Angerkoski
Siiri Saimi Angerkoski (born Pelkonen, later Palmu; 21 August 1902 – 28 March 1971) was a Finnish actress who had a long career on stage, but is especially known for her film roles. With 98 credits, she has done more roles in Finnish films than any other actor or actress. Her best known comedic role is Justiina Puupää in '' Pekka and Pätkä'' films, but she won her two Jussi Awards for dramatic roles in ''Anna Liisa'' (1945) and ''Aliisa'' (1971), the latter posthumously. Personal life Angerkoski was married to actor Kaarlo Angerkoski (1906–1939) from 1933 until his death. They had one daughter. Pekka And Pätkä
''Pekka and Pätkä'' ( fi, Pekka ja Pätkä) is the name of several comedy films produced by Suomen Filmiteollisuus in the 1950s in Finland, based on the popular Finnish comic characters Pekka Puupää (played by Esa Pakarinen) and Pätkä (Masa Niemi), who can be said to be the Finnish version of Stan and Ollie. Production history SF film began production of the movies a year after the original cartoonist Ola Fogelberg passed away. While the first movie was directed by Ville Salminen, Armand Lohikoski would go on to direct 11 of the original films. Screenplays were written mostly by Reino Helismaa with Lohikoski also writing several. The final film of the series was directed by Aarne Tarkas, after Lohikoski was fired from SF film. The first movie's success was immediately apparent which is why the fist sequel, Pekka Puupää kesälaitumilla, was produced the very same year. Jussi Awards
The Jussi Awards are Finland's premier film industry prizes, awarded annually to recognize the achievements of directors, actors, and writers. History The first Jussi Awards ceremony was held on 16 November 1944 at the Restaurant Adlon in Helsinki. The award is one of the oldest films awards in Europe. The original planned name for the prize was ''Aino'', but Jussi won in the end. The name comes from a character in the 1924 and 1936 Pohjalaisia films. The awards were originally organized by the ''Elokuvajournalistit'' organization, but the task was transferred in the early 1960s to the ''Filmiaura'' organization, composed of around 300 members working in the Finnish film industry. Because of the controversy surrounding the transfer, no awards were handed out in 1960 and 1961.
