Sierra (metal Band)
Sierra is a Canadian progressive metal band formed in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario. Their music fuses elements of progressive rock, heavy metal, and instrumental music. Sierra have been touring since 2012, opening for bands such as Weedeater, The Obsessed, Kylesa, Unsane, and Karma to Burn. The band was formed by Jason Taylor and Robbie Carvalho who have been playing together since they were kids. They met after Jason posted an ad in a music store looking for young musicians into 1970s progressive rock. Jason was 15 and Robbie was 12 at the time. Their first album, ''Pslip'', was the first release on the Kylesa operated record label Retro Futurist Records. The album, as with all of their albums since, was recorded at The Jam Room Studios in North Carolina, by Phillip Cope of Kylesa. Progressive Metal
Progressive metal (often shortened to prog metal) is a broad fusion music genre melding heavy metal music, heavy metal and progressive rock, combining the loud "aggression" and amplified electric guitar, guitar-driven sound of the former with the more experimental, cerebral or quasi-classical compositions of the latter. The music typically showcases the extreme technical proficiency of the performers and usually uses unorthodox Chord progression, harmonies as well as complex rhythms with frequent Metre (music), meter changes and intense syncopation. The rhythmic aspects are especially emphasized in the djent subgenre. Although the genre emerged towards the late-1980s, it was not until the 1990s that progressive metal achieved widespread success. Pinkish Black
Pinkish Black is an American experimental sci-fi avant-metal synth-doom band from Fort Worth, Texas. The musical duo includes drums and synthesizer/keyboard only. Formation (2010) In 2005, the members were part of an experimental hard rock trio called The Great Tyrant. After Tommy Atkins, the bassist for The Great Tyrant, committed suicide in 2010, the remaining members continued on as a duo ultimately named Pinkish Black. Daron Beck played keyboards and vocals and Jon Teague remained on drums and synthesizer. Self-titled debut (2011–2012) The band had been signed from the Dada Drumming record label to Handmade Birds. Concept Album
A concept album is an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. This is typically achieved through a single central narrative or theme, which can be instrumental, compositional, or lyrical. The Obsessed
The Obsessed is an American doom metal band from Potomac, Maryland, led by Scott "Wino" Weinrich. Formed in 1979, they recorded a few demos and played a handful of live shows until they first split up in 1986 when Weinrich joined as lead vocalist for Saint Vitus. About two years before his departure from Saint Vitus, Weinrich reformed The Obsessed in 1989, and three studio albums − '' The Obsessed'' (1990), '' Lunar Womb'' (1991) and '' The Church Within'' (1994) − were released before disbanding for the second time in 1995. 1000mods is a heavy rock band from Chiliomodi, Greece, formed in 2006. The group consists of Dani G. (vocals and bass), Giorgos T. (guitar), and Labros G. (drums). Since their formation, the band has toured extensively across the globe and released five full-length studio albums. The name of the group is a pun linked to the village in which they were formed, as the word for "thousand" in Greek is "chilia". History 1000mods formed in 2006.
