Arunah Shepherdson Abell
Arunah Shepherdson Abell (August 10, 1806 – April 19, 1888) was an American publisher from New England who was active in Pennsylvania and Maryland. Born in East Providence, Rhode Island, Abell learned the newspaper business as an apprentice at the ''Providence Patriot''. After stints with newspapers in Boston and New York City, he co-founded the '' Public Ledger'' in Philadelphia and later independently founded ''The Sun'' of Baltimore, Maryland; both were penny papers to appeal to the working class. Abell and his descendants continued ownership of ''The Sun'' as a family business until 1910. Abell is noted as an innovative publisher in the newspaper business, making use of new systems and technology: pony express delivery of news from New Orleans, using the telegraph to transmit news from the first Mexican–American War and a President's speech to the Congress in Washington, D.C., and using the new rotary/cylinder printing press invented by Richard March Hoe. Elcho Island
Elcho Island, known to its traditional owners as Galiwin'ku (Galiwinku) is an island off the coast of Arnhem Land, in the Northern Territory of Australia. It is located at the southern end of the Wessel Islands group located in the East Arnhem Region. Galiwin'ku is also the name of the settlement where the island's largest community lives. Elcho Island formed part of the traditional lands of the Yan-nhaŋu, according to Norman Tindale. According to J. C. Jennison, the Aboriginal inhabitants were the Dhuwal, who called themselves the ''Kokalango Mala'' (''mala'' = clan.) Guy Shepherdson
Guy Shepherdson (born 17 February 1982 in Jakarta, Indonesia) is an Australian former rugby union professional footballer. He played as a tight-head prop for the Brumbies and Reds in the Super Rugby competition and played for the Australian national team, the Wallabies. Early life Shepherdson was born in Jakarta as his father worked as an aid official for the Australian International Development Assistance Bureau (AIDAB), now known as AusAID from 1981 to 1983. The family then moved to Canberra and Shepherdson was educated at Canberra Grammar School. He was a member of the Brumbies Academy squad in 1997. He played for the Australian Schoolboys in 1999 and went on to represent Australia at the under-19 and under-23 level. Harold Shepherdson
Harold Shepherdson MBE (28 October 1918 – 13 September 1995) was an English football player, coach and manager. Born in Middlesbrough, Shepherdson signed for his hometown club in 1936, but saw his playing career interrupted by the Second World War and ultimately made just 17 league appearances. He is most notable for having been Alf Ramsey's long-term assistant as England manager, including during the successful 1966 World Cup campaign. Shepherdson also had four spells as caretaker manager at Middlesbrough. Shepherdson was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1969 Birthday Honours. Originally, only the eleven players who featured in the 4–2 win over West Germany in the 1966 World Cup final received medals.
