Sheikh Shaheb Ali
Sheikh Shaheb Ali ( bn, শেখ সাহেব আলী; 1 July 1917 – 1 June 2004) was a former Bangladeshi football player and manager. He is the only East Pakistani to have both played for and managed the Pakistan national football team. He is also the first head coach of the Bangladesh national football team, guiding them at the 1973 Merdeka Cup. He holds the record of coaching Bangladesh to their first ever win in international football. Playing career Sheikh Shaheb Ali was born in Matuail area of Dhaka, on 1 July 1917. He started his career at Kabi Nazrul Government College, where he was a student and after graduation joined the newly formed Dhaka Mohammedan SC. During the British regime he played in the unrecognised era of the Dhaka Football League and also participated in the ''Ronald Shield'' with Victoria SC, during which he gained experience playing as a makeshift goalkeeper. Zakaria Pintoo
Zakaria Pintoo (born 1 January 1943) is a Bangladeshi retired professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Pintoo played for the Pakistan football team before independence. He served as the captain of Shadhin Bangla Football Team in 1971 and went on to become the first captain of the Bangladesh national football team after the independence of the country. He received the Independence Day Award (1995) in the sports category by the Government of Bangladesh. During tour with the Shadhin Bangla Football Team in India, in 1971, he became the first person to hoist the Bangladesh flag in foreign land. Sheikh Ashraf Ali
Sheikh Ashraf Ali ( bn, শেখ আশরাফ আলী; born May 1946) is a retired a Bangladeshi football player and coach. Early life Sheikh Ashraf Ali was born in Calcutta, British India, in 1946, the son of Sheikh Shahzada and Rahatunnessa. His father was a police officer. During the 1946 Calcutta Killings, the majority of Ashraf's joint-family members died, leading them to move to Jessore (now part of Bangladesh). In 1950, only two years after the partition of India, Ashraf's family returned to Calcutta due to an epidemic in Jessore. Eventually, he joined the junior team of Mohun Bagan under the advisal of his father's friend, B.D. Chatterjee. He represented Mohun Bagan Jr. in the Calcutta Power League from 1963 to 1964. Nazir Ahmed Chowdhury
Nazir Ahmed Chowdhury ( bn, নাজির আহমেদ চৌধুরী), better known as Nazir Junior or Choto Nazir, is a retired Bangladeshi footballer who played as a center-back. He is a member of the first Bangladesh national football team. Early life Nazir Ahmed Chowdhury was born in Sunamganj, East Pakistan (present-day Bangladesh). Alongside football he was also involved with athletics, he was the divisional champion in 400 meters race. In 1964, Nazir started playing in Sunamganj Borthers alongside his school team. In the same year, the Sunamganj Government School won the title in inter-departmental games, and Nazir was called up to the Sunamganj Division Team, however, he played for them the following year as he was still a student at the time. Shahidur Rahman Chowdhury ( bn, শহীদুর রহমান চৌধুরী; born 17 November 1947), known by his nickname Shantoo, is a former Bangladeshi football player and manager. Club career In 1966, after giving his SSC examination in Rangpur, he moved to Dhaka. His football career started the same year for Azad Sporting Club in the Dhaka League, after impressing Azad coach Ranjit Das. The Pakistan Premier League (PPL; ur, پاکستان پریمیئر لیگ) is a Pakistani professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Pakistan football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. IFA Shield
The IFA Shield is an annual football competition organized by the Indian Football Association. The IFA is the governing body of football in the state of West Bengal, came into existence in 1893. Named after the association, the IFA Shield tournament was started in the same year. It is the third oldest football tournament in India, after Durand Cup and Trades Cup, and the one of the oldest football competitions in the world. The royal houses of Patiala and Cooch Behar, A.A. Dhaka Senior Division Football League, also referred as First Division Football League, is the third tier of football league in Bangladesh. Until 2006, it was the top-tier league of the country. It was established in 1948 as Dhaka League, while Bangladesh was still under Pakistani control. Upon the creation of the new national top-tier professional league B.
