Shawn Bryson
Adrian Shawn Bryson (born November 30, 1976) is a former American football running back. He played college football at the University of Tennessee. College career Bryson played at the University of Tennessee under head coach Phillip Fulmer from 1995-1998. Bryson would contribute all four seasons as a running back and was a threat in the receiving game considerably in his junior and senior seasons. Bryson was a team captain on the 1998 National Championship team. In the National Championship, which was the Fiesta Bowl, Bryson had three rushes for seven yards and three receptions for 34 yards in the 23-16 victory over the Florida State Seminoles. With the Volunteers, Bryson rushed for 505 career yards and eight touchdowns. In addition, he recorded 50 receptions for 484 yards and one receiving touchdown. The Detroit Lions season was the franchise's 75th season in the National Football League. The team began attempting to improve on their 5–11 record from 2003, they improved to 6–10 that season but, the Lions couldn't make the playoffs for a sixth consecutive season. In week 1, the Lions defeated the Chicago Bears in Chicago, 20–16, to snap a 24-game road losing streak, which was the longest road losing streak in franchise history. It was the first road win for the Lions under Matt Millen. The Lions would defeat the Houston Texans the next week, 28–16, to start the season 2–0. In week 7, the Lions defeated the New York Giants 28–13 on the road to begin the season 4–2, while going 3–0 on the road during that span. The 2004 NFL season was the 85th regular season of the National Football League. With New England as the defending league champions, regular season play was held from September 9, 2004 to January 2, 2005. 2003 Detroit Lions Season
The 2003 Detroit Lions season was the 74th season in franchise history. Prior to the season, the Lions hired Steve Mariucci, who was well known for his tenure with the San Francisco 49ers, as their head coach. He spent two and a half seasons with the Lions until his firing in November 2005. The season saw the team draft Charles Rogers with the second overall pick in the 2003 NFL Draft. However, on-and-off the field issues, and later injuries, interrupted his career. He was released by the Lions in 2006, and immediately went out of the NFL. Much like quarterback Ryan Leaf, Rogers remains one of the biggest draft busts in the contemporary NFL. The 2003 NFL season was the 84th regular season of the National Football League (NFL). Regular-season play was held from September 4, 2003, to December 28, 2003. Due to damage caused by the Cedar Fire, Qualcomm Stadium was used as an emergency shelter, and thus the Miami– San Diego regular-season match on October 27 was instead played at Sun Devil Stadium, the home field of the Arizona Cardinals. This was the first season in NFL history where every team won at least 4 games. The playoffs began on January 3, 2004. The 2002 season was the Buffalo Bills' 43rd as a franchise and 33rd in the National Football League. The Bills acquired veteran quarterback Drew Bledsoe from the New England Patriots on draft weekend in exchange for Buffalo's first-round pick in the 2003 draft, (the Bills later gained a first-round pick via a sign-and-trade of receiver Peerless Price, coming off a breakout season, to the Atlanta Falcons for their first-round pick in the 2003 draft). The 2002 NFL season was the 83rd regular season of the National Football League. The league went back to an even number of teams with the addition of the Houston Texans; the league has remained static with 32 teams since. The clubs were realigned into eight divisions, four teams in each. Also, the Chicago Bears played their home games in 2002 in Champaign, Illinois at Memorial Stadium because of the reconstruction of Soldier Field. The NFL title was won by Tampa Bay when they defeated Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII, at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California on January 26, 2003. The 2001 season was the Buffalo Bills' 42nd season. Previous head coach Wade Phillips was fired, and was replaced by Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. At 3–13, they finished the season with the worst record in the whole American Football Conference and at last place in the AFC East division for the first time since 1985. John Butler, who had been the Bills' general manager from 1993 to 2000, left to take the same position with the San Diego Chargers. He was replaced by Tom Donahoe, who would remain with the Bills through the 2005 season. The 2001 NFL season was the 82nd regular season of the National Football League (NFL), and the first season of the 21st century. The league permanently moved the first week of the regular season to the weekend following Labor Day. In the wake of the September 11 attacks, the NFL's week 2 games (September 16 and 17) were postponed and rescheduled to the weekend of January 6 and 7, 2002. The 2000 Buffalo Bills season was the team's 41st and 31st as part of the National Football League. The Bills total offense ranked 9th in the league and their total defense ranked 3rd in the league. It would be the final season that Bruce Smith, Andre Reed, and Thurman Thomas, the last three players remaining from the Bills' Super Bowl teams were on the same team together.
