Sharjah (; ', Gulf Arabic: ''aš-Šārja'') is the List of cities in the United Arab Emirates, third-most populous city in the United Arab Emirates, after Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Jack Persekian
Jack Persekian (born 1962) is a Palestinian artist and curator from Jerusalem. He is of Armenian descent and a United States citizen. Biography Born to an Armenian family in East Jerusalem, Persekian started his career in the arts world as a musician and music promoter in the 1980s, before turning to the visual arts. After returning from an extended stay in the United States in 1992, he founded Anadiel Gallery in the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, as the first independent gallery in the Palestinian territories under Israeli occupation, with a focus on contemporary Palestinian artists. In 1996, he invited Palestinian-British artist Mona Hatoum to Jerusalem and subsequently organized her first exhibition in Palestine. Sharif Waked
Sharif Waked (; born 1964) is a Palestinian visual artist. Biography Sharif Waked was born in Nazareth to a Palestinian refugee family from Mjedil, a depopulated Palestinian village. He lives and works in Haifa and Nazareth. In 1983-1986, he studied art and philosophy at Haifa University. Art career Waked’s work is part of the permanent collections of the Solomon R. Raeda Saadeh
Raeda Saadeh (; born 1977) is a Palestinian artist. She won the 2000 "The Young Artist of the Year Award," by the A. M. Qattan Foundation. Life She was born in Umm al-Fahm, a Palestinian-populated city in the North of Israel. She received her BFA and MFA from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Jerusalem. She studied at the School of Visual Arts. She lives and works in Jerusalem. Work Saadeh works in photographs, installations, and performances. In 2012, a monograph of Saadeh's work, ''Raeda Saadeh: Reframing Palestine'' was published edited by Rose Issa. Marcel Odenbach
Marcel Odenbach is a German video artist. In the 1970s, with Ulrike Rosenbach and Klaus vom Bruch, he formed the producer group ATV. Odenbach's works criticize the conditions of German society. Life and work Odenbach was born in 1953 in Cologne, Germany, where he studied architecture, art history and semiotics between 1974–79. In the late 1970s, he started using video work, tapes, installations, performances and drawings to probe the cultural identity of his native Germany. Rashid Masharawi
Rashid Masharawi (also: "Rashid Mashrawi") () is a Palestinian film director, born in Gaza in 1962 to a family of refugees from Jaffa. He grew up in the Shati refugee camp. Rashid Masharawi lives and works in Ramallah, where he founded the Cinema Production and Distribution Center in 1996 with the aim of promoting local film productions. He also sponsors a mobile cinema, which allows him to screen films in Palestinian refugee camps. Other projects include the annual Kids Film Festival and major workshops on film production and directing. Rashid Masharawi regularly organises readings and discussion forums at the Al-Matal cultural centre. Rika Noguchi (野口里佳 Noguchi Rika, born 1971) is a Japanese photographic artist. Biography Noguchi was born in Tokyo and has a degree in photography from the Department of Photography, College of Art at Nihon University in 1994. She has lived and worked as a photographer in Berlin, Germany between 2004 and 2016 and is currently based in Okinawa, Japan. Noguchi focuses on photography of nature, with landscape sceneries and animals. Her frequent use of close-ups and blurred images create an aura of impressionism.
