Jack Persekian
Jack Persekian (born 1962) is a Palestinian artist and curator from Jerusalem. He is of Armenian descent and a United States citizen. Biography Born to an Armenian family in East Jerusalem, Persekian started his career in the arts world as a musician and music promoter in the 1980s, before turning to the visual arts. After returning from an extended stay in the United States in 1992, he founded Anadiel Gallery in the Christian Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City, as the first independent gallery in the Palestinian territories under Israeli occupation, with a focus on contemporary Palestinian artists. In 1996, he invited Palestinian-British artist Mona Hatoum to Jerusalem and subsequently organized her first exhibition in Palestine. Persekian is also the founder and director of Al-Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art in Jerusalem. A curator (from , meaning 'to take care') is a manager or overseer. When working with cultural organizations, a curator is typically a "collections curator" or an "exhibitions curator", and has multifaceted tasks dependent on the particular institution and its mission. The Palestinian Museum
The Palestinian Museum is a museum in Birzeit, in the West Bank, Palestine, that was inaugurated on 18 May 2016. It is a flagship project of the Welfare Association, a non-profit organization for developing humanitarian projects in Palestine. Representing the history and aspirations of the Palestinian people, the museum aims to discuss the past, present, and future of Palestine. The museum building is located 25 km north of Jerusalem. The inaugural exhibition, "Jerusalem Lives", was opened on 26 August 2017. On 29 August 2019, the museum received the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. Tirdad Zolghadr
Tirdad Zolghadr (born 1973) works as a freelance curator, writes for Frieze magazine and has also contributed to Parkett, Bidoun, Cabinet, Afterall, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Straits Times (Singapore) and other publications. He is co-founder of the Tehran-based feminist online magazine Bad Jens (1999) and co-director of "Tehran 1380" (with Solmaz Shahbazi), a documentary on mass housing estates in Tehran (2001). Ken Lum
Kenneth Robert Lum, OC DFA (; born 1956) holds dual citizenship in Canada and the United States. He is an artist, an academic, and a curator. Lum's artistic practice spans multiple media including painting, sculpture and photography. His playfully politically oriented works, which range from conceptual to representational, often explore themes of identity linked to language, portraiture, and spatial politics. The Vitra Design Museum is a privately owned museum for design in Weil am Rhein, Germany. The architect of this building was Frank O. Gehry. Al Ma'mal Foundation For Contemporary Art
Al Ma’mal Foundation for Contemporary Art is a non-profit arts organization founded in 1998 in the Old City of Jerusalem, Palestine. Its programming includes contemporary art exhibitions, live music, an artist residency program, and workshops. History Al Ma’mal is situated in the former Kassissieh Tile Factory; Ma’mal means “factory” in Arabic. In 1900, the Kassissieh family established a tile factory in the Old City. The factory produced patterned floor tiles commonly found in Palestinian homes. Eventually, the factory became one of the main tile factories in Palestine. It was active until the mid-1970s, when the Jerusalem Municipality withdrew licenses from all factories operating inside the Old City.
