Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan (14 July 1920 – 26 February 2004) was an Indian politician who served as the chief minister of Maharashtra twice from 1975 until 1977 and from 13 March 1986 until 26 June 1988. Early life and family Chavan was born at Paithan Village, Aurangabad district, Maharashtra. Chavan completed his Bachelor of Arts from Madras University and LL.B. from Osmania University. He started his career as an advocate. He initiated the Student's Movement and gave up practice of law during the 'Quit Court' Movement in the former Hyderabad State. Shankarrao Gadakh (born 29 May 1970 in the village of Sonai, Maharashtra, India) is Member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Nevasa. Gadakh had wrested the Nevasa seat from the BJP in the 2019 assembly polls by defeating BJP candidate with a convincing margin. He is member of the Shiv Sena and former minister of Soil and Water Conservation in Government of Maharashtra. Shankarrao Ramachandra Godambe (1 March 1899 – 6 December 1969) was an Indian cricketer who played first-class cricket from 1920 to 1941. Godambe was a medium-pace seam bowler and useful late-order batsman who had a long career for the Hindus in the Bombay Quadrangular. After doing well in the trial matches in 1931-32 he was selected to tour England with India's first Test touring team in 1932. However, he was unable to make the most of his infrequent opportunities on tour and did not play in the Test match. He scored 62 (his highest score) and 51 not out when the Hindus beat the Europeans in the final of the 1925-26 Bombay Quadrangular. Shankarrao Mohite-Patil was an Indian politician and member of the Indian National Congress, Congress party. Career He started his legislative career by representing Akluj in the erstwhile Bombay Legislative Assembly from 1952 to 1960. Shankarrao Salvi (15 July 1931 – 15 February 2007) was an Indian Kabaddi player, coach and administrator. He was life president of Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India. Salvi is described as a persuasive speaker. His efforts in the field resulted in the merging of "hu tu tu" into a standardised version of kabaddi. Hu tu tu, a traditional game similar to kabaddi, played in Maharashtra has nine players per side whereas the standard kabaddi is played with seven players per side. Traditionalists in Maharashtra had resisted replacement of the word "hu tu tu" with "kabaddi" a word more common in northern India.
