Naogaon District () is a district in northern Bangladesh, and part of Rajshahi Division. It is named after its headquarters, the city of Naogaon in Naogaon Sadar Upazila. Demographics According to the 2022 Census of Bangladesh, Naogaon District has 765,457 households and a population of 2,784,599 with an average 3.59 people per household. Among the population, 436,445 (15.67%) inhabitants are under 10 years of age. The population density is 810 people per km2. Talim Hossain
Talim Hossain (29 October 1918 – 21 February 1999) was a Bangladeshi poet. He was the founder of Kabi Nazrul Institute in Dhaka. He was the editor of the literary magazine '' Mahe Nao'' in the 1960s. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1982 by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to Bengali literature. Career Hossain was a Nazrul exponent. Along with musician Sudhin Das, he took the initiative to formulate Swaralipi of Nazrul Sangeet for the first time. He wrote books including "Dishari", "Shahin" and "Nuher Jahaj". A 500-page complete works of Hossain, "Kavita Samagra", was released in 1999. A foundation by Hossain, "Poet Talim Hossain Trust", awards researchers and practitioners on Nazrul annually since 1998. Nazrul Sangeet (), also Nazrul Geeti (; ), refers to the songs written and composed by Kazi Nazrul Islam, who is the national poet of Bangladesh. Nazrul Geeti incorporate revolutionary notions as well as more spiritual, philosophical and romantic themes. Nazrul wrote and composed nearly 4,000 songs (including gramophone records), which are widely popular in Bangladesh and India. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak () is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of martyrs of the Bengali language movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18-carat gold medal weighing 3 Tola (unit), tolas, a certificate of honour and a cash award. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015, to ৳ 200,000 in 2017 and to ৳ 400,000 as of November 2019. Nazrul Award
The Jatiya Kabi Nazrul Institute is Bangladesh's national institute, established in February 1985. Its headquarters are located in Kabi Bhaban in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It fulfills a number of roles; promoting the literary work of the poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, recognising excellence in literature research by conferring awards, and public engagement. In January, 2025 it's change its name to Jatiya Kabi Nazrul Institute from Kabi Nazrul Institute.
