Seán Armstrong
Seán Armstrong (born 20 March 1986) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer from Galway. Armstrong played his club football with Salthill–Knocknacarra GAA, Salthill–Knocknacarra and inter-county football for Galway county football team, Galway from 2005 to 2014, spending ten years as an inter-county footballer. Career Seán was a key part of Galway GAA, Galway's Under 21 All-Ireland triumph of 2005. He formed a devastating partnership with Michael Meehan (Gaelic footballer), Michael Meehan in the final as they scored 6-3 between them in a 6–5 to 4–6 victory over Down GAA, Down to claim the title. Galway ( ; , ) is a City status in Ireland, city in (and the county town of) County Galway. It lies on the River Corrib between Lough Corrib and Galway Bay. The GAA Football Under-20 All-Ireland Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the EirGrid GAA Football Under-20 All-Ireland Championship) is an annual inter-county Gaelic football competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in Ireland. The championship was contested as the All-Ireland Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2017 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2018. The final, usually held in August, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during the summer months, and the results determine which team receives the Clarke Cup. The GAA Interprovincial Championship () or Railway Cup (''Corn an Iarnróid'') is the name of two annual Gaelic football and hurling competitions held between the provinces of Ireland. The Connacht, Leinster, Munster and Ulster GAA teams are composed of the best players from the counties in each province. The games are organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association. The Railway Cup was a revival of the Railway Shield which ran from 1905 to 1907 (football) and from 1905 to 1908 (hurling). The first Railway Cup competitions (the name is due to the donation of the trophy by Irish Rail) were held in 1927, with Munster winning the first football title and Leinster winning the first hurling title. Connacht Senior Football Championship
The Connacht Senior Football Championship, known simply as the Connacht Championship and shortened to Connacht SFC, is an annual Gaelic football competition for the senior county teams of Connacht GAA. All of the county teams of Connacht participate in the championship, as well as London county football team, London and New York county football team, New York. The winning team receives the Nestor Cup. The Connacht SFC is run on a knock-out basis through which teams are eliminated from the competition. A series of games are played during the summer months and the final is played in June or July. Salthill–Knocknacarra GAA
Salthill–Knocknacarra () is a Gaelic games club based in the city of Galway in the west of Ireland. It is a member of the Galway GAA branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Centred on the parishes of Salthill and Knocknacarra in Galway city, the club fields teams in four codes: Gaelic football, hurling, Ladies' football and camogie. History The club was founded in 1966 under the banner of Cumann Naomh Ciarán. In the 1980s, the club was in Galway football. It won over ten championships at both the minor and U-21 levels.
