Seyoum Mengesha KBE (Amharic: ሥዩም መንገሻ; 21 June 1887 – 15 December 1960) was an army commander and a member of the royal family of the Ethiopian Empire. Early life ''Le'ul'' ''Ras'' Seyoum Mengesha was born on 24 June 1886 in the town of Agawmedir (Zimbriee), in the province of Gojjam to his mother ''Woizero'' Kafay, daughter of ''Ras'' Wale Betul Abba Tattan, Viceroy of Tigray. His father was '' Ras'' Mangasha Yohannes, the son of Emperor Yohannes IV of Ethiopia, from the royal house of Tigray. It is known that in his teenage years (1902-1910), ''Le'ul Ras'' Seyoum moved with his family from Gojjam to Tigray. His father, Ras Mangasha Yohannes was the "natural" son and heir of Emperor Yohannes IV. Seyoum Mesfin Gebredingel (; , ; 25 January 1949 – 13 January 2021) was an Ethiopian politician and diplomat. He was Ethiopia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ethiopia), Minister of Foreign Affairs from 1991 to 2010 and served as List of ambassadors of Ethiopia to China, Ethiopia's Ambassador to China from 2011 to 2017. Early life and education Seyoum was born on 25 January 1949 in Tigray Province, Tigray, Ethiopia, as ''Ambaye Mesfin''. He later changed from ''Ambaye'' to ''Seyoum'' as a Pseudonym#Military and paramilitary organizations, ''nom de guerre''. Seyoum Tsehaye (born 1952) is a jailed Eritrean journalist. At independence in 1993, Tsehaye was named to be the head of Eri-TV, the Eritrean state broadcaster. He was arrested in September 2001 when President Isaias Afewerki closed all non-governmental media sources. In December 2007, Seyoum was named Reporter of the Year by Reporters Without Borders. , he was known to be alive, being held at Eiraeiro prison. Bewketu Seyoum ( Ge'ez: በዕውቀቱ ስዩም) is an Ethiopian writer and poet from Debre Markos of Ethiopia. He studied psychology at Addis Ababa University and published his first collection of poems, ''Nwari Alba Gojowoch'' (Unmanned Cottage) in 2000, a year after graduating. Since then, he has published two further poetry collections and two novels, and has narrated short stories on CD. In 2008, he received the best young writer award of Ethiopia from the President. Billene Seyoum Woldeyes (Amharic: ቢለኔ ሥዩም ወልደየስ; born 1982) is an Ethiopian politician, poet and author who is serving as the Foreign Press Secretary for the Office of Prime Minister of Ethiopia since 5 November 2018. Wolete Israel Seyoum (1907–1989) was the daughter of '' Leul Ras'' Seyoum Mengesha, Prince of Tigray, KBE, and great-granddaughter of Emperor Yohannes IV of Ethiopia.
