Servant Foundation
The Servant Foundation, also known as The Signatry, is an American 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded primarily by anonymous donors, that operates a donor-advised fund. It is best known for "He Gets Us", a religious advertising campaign that was first launched in 2022 and is no longer affiliated with Servant. The foundation describes its mission as being to "inspire and facilitate revolutionary, biblical generosity". History The Servant Foundation was founded by Bill High in 2000. From 2000 to 2017, it was an affiliate of the National Christian Foundation. In 2023, it was reported that the Servant Foundation had donated more than $65 million to the anti-abortion, anti-LGBT rights conservative Christian legal advocacy group Alliance Defending Freedom in the period from 2018 to 2021. Donor-advised Fund
In the United States, a donor-advised fund (commonly called a DAF) is a charitable giving vehicle administered by a public charity created to manage charitable donations on behalf of organizations, families, or individuals. To participate in a donor-advised fund, a donating individual or organization opens an account in the fund and deposits cash, securities, or other financial instruments. They surrender ownership of anything they put in the fund but retain advisory privileges over how their account is invested, and how it distributes money to charities. "He Gets Us" is an ongoing American religious advertising campaign formerly operated by the Servant Foundation. First launched in 2022, the campaign's stated goal is to "reintroduce people to the Jesus of the Bible". Its campaigns are designed to cater to younger demographics and Religious skepticism, religious skeptics via allusions to present-day social movements, with an emphasis on Value (ethics and social sciences), values such as inclusion, compassion, and "radical forgiveness". At least US$100 million was initially spent on the campaign, which has included billboards, sponsor placements, and television commercials. David Green (born November 13, 1941) is an American businessman and the founder of Hobby Lobby, a chain of arts and crafts stores. He is a major financial supporter of Evangelical organizations in the United States and funded the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Career In 1970, while a store manager with variety store chain TG&Y, Green took a $600 loan and started a home business in his garage assembling and selling miniature picture frames, with a partner, Larry Pico. The business, Greco Products, capitalized on a decorating fad of the time. Eventually, Green bought out Pico and the growing business staffed a small factory with cerebral palsy patients, paying them ten cents per frame. By August 1972, the focus was on arts and crafts, and the business had thrived to such an extent that Green and his wife were able to open a 300 square-foot store in northwest Oklahoma City called Hobby Lobby.
