Mukim Batu Apoi is a mukims of Brunei, mukim in Temburong District, Brunei. It has an area of ; as of 2021, the population was 1,355. Etymology Sungai Batu Apoi is where Batu Apoi gets its name. Long ago, there was a Murut people, Murut longhouse there beside the river. Their myth states that a hot rock that was formerly upstream gave Batu Apoi its name. The presence of this rock rendered the entire area inhospitable and unusable to humans. Suddenly a Murut cultural hero appeared one day. He looked at the fiery rock and then tossed it into the sea far away with all of his might. He therefore made the entire region livable and secure so that the Muruts may settle there and live. The Postal Services Department () is a government department which is responsible for providing postal service in Brunei. History A postage stamp dated 24 April 1894, bearing the Brooketon postmark (present-day Muara), is among the earliest stamps used in Brunei. This Sarawak stamp was issued from a small post office established in 1893 to serve the coal-mining community at Rajah Charles Brooke's Brooketon colliery. The Brunei History Centre (PSB; ) is a government institution which conducts research, documentation, publication and dissemination on matters pertaining to the history of Brunei. ''Wuduʾ'' ( ) is the Islamic procedure for cleansing parts of the body, a type of ritual purification, or ablution.
