The Ministry of Education (MoE; ) is a cabinet of Brunei, cabinet-level ministry in the government of Brunei which oversees education in Brunei, education in the country. It was established immediately upon Brunei's independence on 1 January 1984. It is currently led by a minister and the incumbent is Romaizah Mohd Salleh who took office since 7 June 2022. The ministry is headquartered in Bandar Seri Begawan. History With the founding of the (Department of Education) in 1951, under the direction of the List of administrators of British Brunei, British Resident and with assistance from local educators, Brunei's educational framework started to take shape. The Government of Brunei is the union government created by the constitution of Brunei where by the Sultan of Brunei is both head of state and head of government ( Prime Minister of Brunei). Executive power is exercised by the government. Brunei has a legislative council with 36 appointed members, that only has consultative tasks. Under Brunei's 1959 constitution, His Majesty Hassanal Bolkiah, is the head of state with full executive authority, including emergency powers since 1962. The Southeast Asia Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO) is an intergovernmental organization of the eleven Southeast Asian countries, which was formed on 30 November 1965 by the Kingdom of Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and the then Republic of Vietnam. Abdul Aziz Umar
Abdul Aziz bin Haji Umar (born 20 March 1936) is a Bruneian aristocrat and politician who held a wide range of positions in the government of Brunei. Before that, he served as the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications, minister of communications, Ministry of Education (Brunei), minister of education, and Ministry of Health (Brunei), minister of health. The Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD or University of Brunei Darussalam) is a public national university, national research university situated in Bandar Seri Begawan, the capital of Brunei, was founded in 1985 and is the oldest institution in the country.
