Second Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church

It is located in the village of Ballyeaston, in the Six Mile Valley, just two miles north-east of Ballyclare in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. History The congregation was established in 1763 at Rashee, close to the present building, moving to the current site in 1768. Originally a Seceding congregation, Rashee became known as Second Ballyeaston Presbyterian Church in 1846 when it joined the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. During the troublesome times prior to the 1798 Rebellion led by the United Irishmen, the congregation's minister, the Reverend William Holmes, an opponent of the rebel cause, formed and drilled The Ballyeaston Yeomanry. Second Presbyterian Church is a landmark Gothic Revival church located on South Michigan Avenue in Chicago, Illinois, United States. In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, some of Chicago's most prominent families attended this church. It is renowned for its interior, completely redone in the Arts and Crafts style after a disastrous fire in 1900. The sanctuary is one of America's best examples of an unaltered Arts and Crafts church interior, fully embodying that movement's principles of simplicity, hand craftsmanship, and unity of design. It also boasts nine imposing Tiffany windows. The church was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974 and later designated a Chicago Landmark on September 28, 1977. Second Presbyterian Church is a historic congregation located at 7700 North Meridian Street in Indianapolis, Indiana. With 4,049 members as of 2013, it is one of the largest congregations in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). History The congregation was founded in 1837 when fifteen members of the Presbyterian Church of Indianapolis, which would subsequently be known as First Presbyterian, broke off as part of the Old School–New School Controversy. The new congregation adhered to the New School General Assembly and soon took the name Second Presbyterian. The Second Presbyterian Church is a historic Presbyterian church located at 460 E. Main Street in Lexington, Kentucky. Construction began on the church in 1922, and it was dedicated in 1924; it was the third building used by its congregation, which was founded in the 1810s. Architects Cram & Ferguson designed the Gothic Revival church; Frankel & Curtis are also associated with the building. The church's main entrance features multiple gabled buttresses, a balcony under a large arched window, and a gable at its peak.
