Sebastian Czaja
Sebastian Czaja (born 28 June 1983) is a German politician of the Free Democratic Party (FDP). He served as parliamentary leader of the FDP in the Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin from 2016 to 2023, and was lead candidate for the party in the 2016, 2021 and 2023 state elections. Life and education Czaja was born in East Berlin and grew up in Mahlsdorf. His mother is a nurse and his father an electrician. He graduated from Klingenberg high school in Biesdorf in 2000, and attended the ''Oberstufenzentrum Energietechnik II'' from 2000 to 2004, where he obtained a subject-specific university entrance qualification. In January 2004 he completed his apprenticeship in electrical engineering by passing the journeyman's examination. After attending the Victor Klemperer College in Marzahn from 2004 to 2008, he obtained his Abitur. Free Democratic Party (Germany)
The Free Democratic Party (german: link=no, Freie Demokratische Partei; FDP, ) is a liberal political party in Germany. The FDP was founded in 1948 by members of former liberal political parties which existed in Germany before World War II, namely the German Democratic Party and the German People's Party. For most of the second half of the 20th century, the FDP held the balance of power in the Bundestag. It has been a junior coalition partner to both the CDU/CSU (1949–1956, 1961–1966, 1982–1998 and 2009–2013) and Social Democratic Party of Germany (1969–1982, 2021–presenter). Steglitz-Zehlendorf () is the sixth borough of Berlin, formed in Berlin's 2001 administrative reform by merging the former boroughs of Steglitz and Zehlendorf. 2011 Berlin State Election
The 2011 Berlin state election was held on 18 September 2011 to elect the members of the 17th Abgeordnetenhaus of Berlin. The incumbent government consisting of the Social Democratic Party (SPD) and The Left lost its majority. The SPD lost five seats, remaining the largest party, while The Left lost three. The Christian Democratic Union (CDU) made small gains, while The Greens moved into third place with 30 seats. The Free Democratic Party (FDP) lost three-quarters of its votes and all its seats. The Pirate Party contested its first Berlin state election and won fifteen seats with 8.9% of the vote. This was the first time the party had been elected to a state parliament anywhere in Germany.
