Scrumpy is a type of cider originating in the West of England, particularly the West Country. Traditionally, the dialect term "scrumpy" was used to refer to what was otherwise called "rough", a harsh cider made from unselected apples.Leeds, W. Scrumpy And Western

The Wurzels
The Wurzels are an English Scrumpy and Western band from Somerset, England, best known for their number one hit "The Combine Harvester" and number three hit " I Am a Cider Drinker" in 1976. They are known for using British West Country phrases "ooh arr!" and calling young people "young 'uns" in songs such as "I Am a Cider Drinker" and "The Combine Harvester". Name The name of the band was dreamt up by founder Adge Cutler. It is short for mangelwurzel, a crop grown to feed livestock. The Wurzels' particular "genre" of music was named Scrumpy and Western after the group's first EP of the same name, issued early in 1967. Scrumpy Jack is a brand of dry cider, 6% Alcohol by volume. Previously it was of a stronger ABV of 7.5% but this was changed some years ago due to taxes and licensing. It is currently produced in Hereford by H. P. Bulmer, a subsidiary of Heineken International. Scrumpy Jack is also produced under licence in Devon by Czk1. It was first produced in 1727 by Symonds Cider and English Wine Company of Stoke Lacy. The family firm was taken over by Greenall Whitley in 1984 and sold to Bulmers in 1989. Exports of Scrumpy Jack began to Ireland in 1990, Spain in 1991 and Sweden in 1992. In 2000, UK sales exceeded 200 million litres. Campden Tablet
Campden tablets (potassium or sodium metabisulfite) are a sulphur-based product that is used primarily to sterilize wine, cider and in beer making to kill bacteria and to inhibit the growth of most wild yeast: this product is also used to eliminate both free chlorine and the more stable form, chloramine, from water solutions (e.g., drinking water from municipal sources). Campden tablets allow the amateur brewer to easily measure small quantities of sodium metabisulfite, so it can be used to protect against wild yeast and bacteria without affecting flavour. Untreated cider must frequently suffers from acetobacter contamination causing vinegar spoilage. Yeasts are resistant to the tablets but the acetobacter are easily killed off, hence treatment is important in cider production.
