School On Magnolia
The School on Magnolia was an alternative high school in Cleveland, Ohio. It was founded in 1970 as the Friends School in Cleveland, and its association with the Religious Society of Friends continued through 1975, at which point the local Friends meeting decided that the school was no longer fully carrying out the mission of a Quaker school. The change was amicable, and the school was renamed The School on Magnolia, after its location in a large old house at 10819 Magnolia Drive in the University Circle section of Cleveland. The school initially served a wide range of students who had found traditional high schools did not meet their needs, but in its later years it increasingly functioned as more of a social service institution for troubled teens. It eventually moved to a new location nearer downtown, and was renamed the Eleanor Gerson School, after a woman who had for many years served on its board of trustees. High School
A secondary school describes an institution that provides secondary education and also usually includes the building where this takes place. Religious Society Of Friends
Quakers are people who belong to a historically Protestant Christian set of denominations known formally as the Religious Society of Friends. Members of these movements ("theFriends") are generally united by a belief in each human's ability to experience the light within or see "that of God in every one". Some profess a priesthood of all believers inspired by the First Epistle of Peter. They include those with evangelical, holiness, liberal, and traditional Quaker understandings of Christianity. The Eleanor Gerson School is a coeducational alternative day school for students in grades 6 through 12. The school serves a variety of students, including those with emotional or behavioral difficulties, who have been bullied, or have poor social skills/peer relationships. Robert Caruso is a director and executive producer of commercials, music videos and branded content. Early in his career, Caruso co-founded Commotion Pictures, a San Francisco-based film production company, with Andrew Linsk. There, he directed music videos and began his commercial career. MaPo Kinnord
MaPo Kinnord (born 1960 in Cleveland, OH) is an artist and educator based in New Orleans, Louisiana. Early life and education Kinnord grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her BFA at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, and received her MFA from Ohio State University in Columbus. In 1995 she moved to New Orleans, LA where she met one of her mentors, John T. Scott. Work Using ceramic sculptural forms resembling mud huts of Ghana, Kinnord's work is about ancestral memory. She has spent time in Northern Ghana creating a research video on pottery and ceramic architecture. Much of her work is inspired by architecture and explores both exteriors and interiors through clay and surface treatment. Russell Potter
Russell A. Potter (born 1960) is an American writer and college professor, and guitarist. His work encompasses hip hop culture, popular music, and the history of British exploration of the Arctic in the nineteenth century, as well as the material in the courses he teaches in English literature at Rhode Island College. His books include ''Spectacular Vernaculars: Hip-Hop and the Politics of Postmodernism'' (1995) and ''Arctic Spectacles: The Frozen North in Visual Culture'', 1818-1875 (2007), as well as a novel, ''Pyg: The Memoirs of a Learned Pig'' (2011). He teaches at Rhode Island College, where he is editor of the Arctic Book Review. He also worked as a consultant on, and appears in, the Nova documentary Arctic Passage (2006).
