Saulius Brusokas
Saulius Brusokas (born 4 December 1968) is a Lithuanian male weightlifter and Strongman (strength athlete), strongman competitor from Marijampolė. He competed as a weightlifter in the +105 kg category and represented Lithuania at international competitions. He competed at world championships, most recently at the 1999 World Weightlifting Championships. Between 2002 and 2013 he won seven medals at the Lithuania's Strongest Man, but never the gold one. On 24 October 2005, Brusokas represented Lithuania in a team competition with Vidas Blekaitis, Žydrūnas Savickas and Vilius Petrauskas at the IFSA World's Strongest Nation contest in Ukraine. In the 19th century, the term strongman referred to an exhibitor of strength or similar circus performers who performed feats of strength. More recently, strength athletics, also known as strongman competitions, have grown in popularity. These competitions are now composed of a variety of events in which competitors have to move the highest weights possible, the winner being the one having the highest tally across all events. Description In the first half of the 20th century, strongmen would perform various feats of strength such as the bent press (not to be confused with the bench press, which did not exist at the time), supporting large amounts of weight held overhead at arm's length, steel bending, chain breaking, etc. They needed to have large amounts of wrist, hand, and tendon strength for these feats, as well as prodigious oblique strength. Vidas Blekaitis
Vidas Blekaitis (born 14 April 1972) is a Lithuanian strongman. As of 2007, Blekaitis was ranked World No. 4 by the International Federation of Strength Athletes. He placed 4th in the 2009 Arnold Strongman Classic. Blekaitis competed in the IFSA Strongman World Championships 3 times, finishing 7th in 2005, 4th in the 2006, and 6th in 2007. Vidas Blekaitis placed second at the Giants Live Finland event on 13 August 2011. This placing qualified him for the 2011 World's Strongest Man contest, but he failed to make it to the finals. Žydrūnas Savickas (; born July 15, 1975) is a Lithuanian powerlifter and professional strongman. Due to his multiple championship wins in all major international strongman competitions, as well as his longevity in the sport, he is widely considered by many to be the greatest strength athlete of all time. Career Žydrūnas Savickas first became interested in strength sports after watching a Lithuanian strongman contest on TV in 1989. Three years later, he took part in that same strongman contest, and defeated a number of older and more experienced competitors. At age 17, Savickas began to train in powerlifting. The International Federation of Strength Athletes (IFSA or IFSA Strongman) was an international governing body for strongman competition. IFSA operated from 1995-2007 and was based in Glasgow, Scotland. Strongman Champions League
The Strongman Champions League is a strongman competition circuit, with several Grand Prix events throughout the year and the Strongman Champions League overall champion title going to the overall winner at the end of the season. The competitors include some of the top athletes in the sport, including Žydrūnas Savickas, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, Krzysztof Radzikowski, Travis Ortmayer, Nick Best, Mikhail Koklyaev, Ervin Katona, Andrus Murumets, Laurence Shahlaei, Vytautas Lalas and Terry Hollands. Bansko
Bansko ( bg, Банско ) is a town in southwestern Bulgaria, located at the foot of the Pirin Mountains at an elevation of 1200m above sea level. It is a ski resort. Legends There are several legends about who founded Bansko. According to one, Bansko was founded by people who lived in Dobarsko, a village in Rila, itself, according to a legend, founded by the blinded army of Tsar Samuil.
